when samus dies...

ooh. creepy. Metroid is preety dark for Nintendo.

I love how she dies in MP2. with the warning sign, and the heart... I got scared the first time she died.

In MP3, she... bleeds.

I think the way save stations work is when she dies, the save station regenerates her.

I like the death animation in Super Metroid, myself.

Yes, Samus' deaths are a bit more "graceful" in the side-scrolling games than in the Prime series...

The Super Metroid death animation is pretty memorable. When you die in the Prime games, you really feel it, though. Metroid is serious business.

That being said, I never died in Prime 3. I'll have to see what happens, sometime.

I can't really think of too many games where the death animation is so interesting. Most memorable deaths in other games for me:

Super Mario Bros, Mega Man (the way he kind of bursts into particles is sweet), and Doom. Also, Jetpack Christmas Edition. I always found it hilarious the way santa kind of burst into a pile of red goo, with a horrible scream.

There's actually a special game over screen for getting corrupted in MP3.

Yeah, the Metroid Primes' deaths are pretty brutal. Her scream is what gets to me.

Like AI, I never died in Prime 3, but I got curious once and died on purpose. Creepy stuff, man.

Chunky, I'll have to check that out.

There's videos showing what happens when Samus gets corrupted. Pretty sweet. However, I have yet to see the death in 3. I'll have to pop it in sometime.

I only own Prime 1 (I'm currently renting Prime 3) and I still find the Prime 1 deaths scarier, I don't know why I just do.
