Metroid Prime vs. Super Metroid

I mean the actual things: the Metroid Prime or the Super Metroid, each from their self-titled games.

Super Metroid.

Metroid Prime came off as a sore loser who pursued Samus throughout the galaxy.

Super Metroid kicked Mother Brain's ass and gave Samus the world's scariest Weapon.

Been almost 5 years since I played through Metroid Prime myself, but the FAQs I checked with seemed to think it had Multi-Missiles.

Metroid Prime seems more durable, to be honest. The only thing that seems to do great damage to it is Phazon.

I tend to think the Super Metroid would dominate the Prime. Thing is, it wouldn't have died at all if it didn't donate all of its energy to restoring Samus. I mean, it kind of just ate Mother Brain and didn't flinch.

I think the real proof of Super Metroid's superiority is in how Samus is unable to injure it, but in a weaker form she still kills the Prime.

In that case... Super Metroid. Without him/her, Samus had no chance of defeating Super Mother Brain. Samus beat Metroid Prime three times, all by herself.

Well I've got to think Super Metroid would still be vulnerable to extreme cold and concussive blasts, which Metroid Prime could deliver with more intensity than Samus could.

But I suppose MP is probably just as vulnerable to having all its life force sucked out of it.

Samus had phazon, which is supposedly pretty powerful stuff. A pretty large amount, at that. No other attack really hurts Metroid Prime's true forms it seems, except for phazon-based attacks.

Spoiler Below

Metroid Prime: Shell could be destroyed, true form needed phazon to beat. Even then, it survived.

Metroid Prime 2: In final battle, became invincible, unless Samus sucked up phazon stuff and shot it at Dark Samus. Thought to be killed, but reformed.

Metroid Prime 3: DS corrupts everyone near her with one blast. The two battle at Phaze, a planet full of Phazon: at time, all of Samus' stuff is phazon'd. DS/MP explodes after lengthy battle, assumed to be dead.

Though, that's a good point about SM donating energy.

On another thought, would Super Metroid become phazon'd by sucking up Metroid Prime?

Can you imagine if such a thing were to progress through its larval stages to Omega or Queen form?
