Since it goes through walls in the 2D games, it's a ridiculous boost in effectiveness. When I discovered the Spazer beam in Super Metroid by persisting at bombing up a hole the designers probably intended on keeping for much later in the game, I think that's when I felt the most accomplished at finding any item. Super Metroid and Metroid have always been great for that, though. Everything important is always something you can reach if you put unreasonable amounts of effort into gettting. IMO, though, the coolest ability ever in a game is Metroid II's spider ball. It made the game feel like there could be endless passages to explore. |

Right up there with Princess Toadstool's "..." that you find in her bedroom, in SMRPG. HEYNOW IT'S DEKU HELLO DEKU WHAT ARE YOU DOING POSTING WHILE I'M POSTING I will use your post as a platform to get to a higher postcount kthx. |

I can see it now. "WOOT DUDE I THOUGHT I'D NEVER GET IT, WITH THAT ONE GEEMER IN THE WAY. WHO WOULDA THOUGHT I'D HAVE TO JUMP OVER IT I MEAN REALLY" |

Deep within the unexplored chambers of Norfair, found a secret passage in the ceiling of what looked like a normal little dead-end of little interest. Climbed up and found a long enemy-filled hallway, leading further down. At it's end, a really cool, importent looing item. Didn't know what it did, but the game called it the speed booster when I picked it up. Oh crap! No time to think about that right now, the whole place is filling with lava! Better get out fast, I'll just hold down the run button and... Awesome. The Speed booster really was done best in Super Metroid. It's been kinda lame and slow looking in the other games it's made appearances in. |

Especially the Gravity Suit, because I can't stand Samus's water-loggedness and I always feel free after I get it. |

In Super, it would let you destroy those pink pirates. In the Primes, it would dramatically burn your foe. So, yeah. That Plasma Beam is pretty cool. (Can't comment on it in M2, haven't played it) |

LOVE those power-ups, and addimg the screw attack makes for one bada$$ bounty hunter! but I guess the most exciting item to get was THE POWER BOMBS! "I have a mini-nuke that kills everything on screen and reveals all of the room's secrets!" not to mention all the cool beam combo attacks you could pull off with it. |

Truly a fantastic game. |
