When boredom strikes: METROID EDITION

If there's one thing this recession has been good for, it's been to keep me out of a job long enough to produce crap like this. I may not have money, but at least I have the INTERNET.

Anywho, this is an idea I'd had for a while, and have been working on for quite some time now. Self-explanatory, and I hope you have fun messing around with it.

All done in Photoshop. The stars, planets, asteroids and crap were all done by me (except for Earth and the Moon). Most celestial bodies are based off of appearances in games and media, but for those that were only referred to in name or briefly shown, I had to use my imagination. Got my data together, drew up a generic design of the universe, and then transferred it all to Photoshop. The PSD file is about 35.9Mb alone, and over 150Mb expanded. The image you're looking at right now is actually the low-resolution JPEG version (1700x1300, 633kb). The full-resolution JPEG version is much larger (3400x2600, 1.80Mb), and I might put it on Sendspace or something sometime for those who want to see it.

If you notice anything wrong with the picture, let me know, and I might fix it. For now, have fun. I'm going to bed.

PRAY FOR A TRUE PEACE IN SPACE.

Nicely done. I'd think you can sell prints and posters of this, if you can avoid litigation.

Sweet dude. One issue: Phaaze is through a dimensional warp, yes? Any idea where the hell that is, exactly?

^ It was my understanding that Phaaze existed in the same dimension/universe as everything else, with the wormhole opened to it at the end of the game just being a shortcut to Samus and the GF (who had no idea where the actual planet was).

Wasn't it originally discovered by a Chozo probe launched from Elysia or something? Ehh, I'll have to check sometime.

I'm somewhat behind on my Metroid literature, but was Zebes a homeworld in name only, like Tallon IV, or is that where the Chozo species actually originated?

^ I think the Chozo homeworld is as of yet unknown. Zebes and such were all just colonies.

It's freaking amazing! Nice one, Val. This is proof that you should be bored more often.

BUMP

Perhaps motivated by that Zelda sword thingie I made last week, I decided to work on something that I was planning on doing since before Other M had even come out: a diagram of Samus's Power Suit, including lists of all her powerups. After a few days of writing up all the text and gathering all the images I'd need, I created this (which ended up being much, much larger than I was expecting):

Click the image to see the full-size version on my deviantART account. Beware, it's 2600 by 2000 pixels, and 2.3MB in size.

Let me know if you see any mistakes.
