Metroid: Other M Speculation and Wishes

...so, we know these weapons are here:

Power Beam
Charge Beam
Ice Beam
Melee Attacks/Punch in the Face Beam
Speed Booster

I'm assuming the Morph Ball and Missiles will appear as basically maybe perhaps always. Now, what would you guys like to see in weapons? Would you like to see that special weapon make a reappearance? Would you like to see a specific weapon system? (ie: stacking beams, switching beams)

Also, how do you think the game plays? I've been trying to create a control scheme.

A: jump
B: shoot, melee in close range?
Z: lock on?
C: change weapon (I'm thinking something like what SM had)
some button: Morph Ball

Now, for plot mutterings...which I'll just spoiler.

Adam: With him in this game, we will know what happened that makes Samus hold him so highly. But how will he save the mighty Samus in exchange for his own life?

That Black Guy: He's black. He's with Adam according to a interview, so he's a good guy, likely. Other then that, we don't know if he's really notable or if we'll actually remember him. Speaking of which, does Samus remember him? Maybe he trained with her or something. I like to think that he'll do something badass at the end. Maybe.

That Blond: Apparently, she's important. She's likely going to have a major part in the story, but how remains to be seen. We know she is not a clone due to an interview, and I guess not Samus's mom. Oh, and is it possible she is involved with the GFD's secret Metroid operation?

The Federation: This organization was shown to have become corrupt in Fusion. Will we see hints of this in this game, in it's leadership or something?

The Hunters: Will we ever see these losers again? It's clear that they still have some plans with some of them, judging by how mysterious Sylux is, and how Weavel is a space pirate.

That Ship at the end of MP3: Was it Sylux's ship? Will it have anything to do with this game? Looking at Sylux's hate for the GFD, he could fit.

Space Pirates: We know they're in this game. Seeing as this takes place after their crippling defeat in Super and before their "we're on a GFD ship sorta" appearance in Fusion. What are they cooking?

Other M: What is the "Other M"? We've been told it will have several meanings, which is interesting. Other M makes me think about new Metroids...the beginning of GFD and Pirate Metroids, the "Other Metroids". Also, this theory stinks. On a side-note, Samus was a mother of sorts to the Baby Metroid.

I like your control idea. I'm thinking that it won't just go right out and say that the GFD is corrupt, but show little hints.

So, Other M is set to take place between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. Some of the things I'd like to see/find out:

The real relationship between Samus and Adam. Was it just a student/mentor kind of relationship, or something more, like it's been implied?
How Adam died.
Who RBD is.
Who the mysterious woman is. We know it's not a clone of Samus, and we know it's not Samus's mom (besides, her mom's been dead since she was a kid).

It'll be interesting to see how M:OM works on the story of this series.

I suspect it'll be a Platformer or a 2.5-D game with some First Person segments.

I also suspect MBD...may or may not be the person who would become Sylux.

IE, we see what birthed his hate for the federation (likely related to Adam's death)

^ Apparently, most of the game is 2D/sidescrolling, while boss fights and maybe some other sequences will be in Prime-esque 3D.

If they try to make Adam a mentor kind of figure, it would really bug me. Samus has been through far too much at the point of post-Metroid III to need mentoring.

I haven't seen any statements declaring the game a sidescroller, btw. Do you have a source?

Just basing off of what I've heard, good portions of the game are going to be typical Metroid 3rd-person running around and exploring.

I guess I could've used a better term than "sidescrolling".

I mean like, near the end. A little hint or something. What's wrong with the theory, exactly? I don't know the exact timeline of things. It's Metroid, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime Hunter, MP2, MP3, Metroid 2, Super, then comes MOM before Fusion, right? Then it could be possible that like a piece of Adam's mind is saved or something, I dunno. Maybe I've been watching too much Doctor Who.

EDIT: Are you saying that it probably would've happened earlier in the timeline if it did happen?

In Fusion, Samus is thought Adam was gone for good, and by the time he was "revealed", she was shocked and only then remembered how the Federation would occasionally transfer the memories and personalities of deceased leaders into machines. I don't see that happening twice.

Also, about MBD being Sylux, that's also probably not possible, seeing how Hunters is chronologically quite a bit earlier than M:OM will be.
