Metroid Prime May Come Back to DS

Metroid Prime May Come Back to DS

Quote:
The Metroid Prime series isn't dead yet, according to an Official Nintendo Magazine interview with Metroid head Kensuke Tanabe. "We are always planning to make new games in the Metroid Prime series," he said. "Depending on the timing and the situation, we cannot deny the possibility of realizing it on the DS or DSi." While it's far from a commitment to a new DS game akin to Metroid Prime Hunters it is at least an indication that they have sequels in mind and aren't ruling anything out.

This isn't the first time Tanabe has pointed to Hunters as an inspiration for the future of the series. A few months ago he mentioned interest in multiplayer for Prime, an oft-requested feature that only appeared in the DS iteration so far. Whether the future of the series keeps its multiplayer on the DS or moves it to the Wii, we at least know that Metroid: Other M isn't taking over completely for Samus' future.
I still need to get Hunters. But this would be awesome.

Wasn't there multiplayer in MP2? I really enjoyed that.

I hope the controls get fixed a bit. Jumping with the touch screen was annoying. So was shooting with L.

^You could change the controls.

I wasn't much of a fan of Hunters, to be honest.

Ehhhhh, another chance at an FPS on the DS is fine by me if they do it good enough.

The multiplayer in Hunters was a lot of fun...

...until it because clear that the game was horribly programmed and full of bugs. Then you couldn't get in a match without half the players hiding inside the walls, or using the freeze bug to freeze you from the other side of the map and then spawn kill you repeatedly. Then the gameshark people started showing up with infinate energy, flying around the levels, one shoting people.

And then the bizarre oversight where you could use whatever programing language the game was made with in your screen name, and it would actually change stuff in the game, up to and including deleting the files of the people you played against or even bricking their game card. (nintendo actually patched their servers to prevent people that used the offending characters in their names from connecting, which then in turn banned a lot of innocent players that just happened to have one or two of the characters in their names by chance. The ban was perminant once you tried to log on with an offending name too, so you couldn't just change your name to get back on. You had to actually delete your game file and start over.)

But the first few months before all that happened? The game was pretty fun.

On the plus side, they had a pretty cool rival system that worked well with the friend code BS, by letting you add any players you played against online to a list (As long as they agreed to it.) It would keep you updated on their records and let you know if they were online, so you could challenge them to rematches and private Friend/Rival games. Basicly, you could do anything with them that you could do with somebody on your friend list except talk to them using the mic before a game. It actually worked too. I had a lot of games with people on my rival list before the whole game went to hell.

I honestly would rather they try to do a game with an actual story, if they're going to do another DS title. I don't see any reason to make another Hunters.

I'm still disappointed they took the tap-to-aim function out.

Am I the only one that thought that the Single-Player in Hunters was horrible?

I've yet to meet somebody that thought it was good.
Only thing good that came from it was their model of Samus without her suit.
It wasn't too realistic like prime, but it wasn't too cartoony like the rest of the games since then.

Could someone post a picture? I can't quite remember what it looked like except that it looked like the Zero Suit in Brawl, and if I search for it there'll probably end up being tons of naked Samus' as a result of image-searching.

Samus is proof that the geek community is capable of turning any female character into a famous sex symbol. I mean, Samus is hardly ever seen without her big, bulky, ultra-masculine suit of armor, and still her hooters are recognized far and wide.
