I got the game and have played maybe an hour in. The game takes a while to pick up (about after the first boss [the big purple cyclops monster]), but once it does it's pretty fun. The controls take some getting used to, but work decently. Focusing makes missiles stupidly cheap. And it's also pretty cool to see classic enemies (geemers, skrees, sidehoppers, etc.) rendered in 3D, though the rippers can suck my arm cannon. The cutscenes are cool, but Samus's voice acting is still atrocious. So far, the game's pretty good (aside from the bad things I mentioned). Someone somewhere said that if Metroid Prime was Super Metroid in 3D, then Metroid: Other M is Metroid Fusion in 3D, and I'd have to agree with that.

And yes, you start out the game with all of your powerups... but can't use them until Adam gives you authorization, one at a time. It's kind of retarded, but oh well.

I'm guessing Adam just gets a kick out of controlling Samus's weaponry.

Adam: I'm authorizing the death grapple beam that shoots swords.
Samus: I could have used that earlier, against Mecha Kraid the Third!
Adam: You should have considered that before you left the Federation, bitch.

...I'll go see if it's in stores later today.

Correction. Some of the powerups just require authorization. Others are found normally throughout the game.

Abbie Heppe is probably the most hated reviewer ever now.

IDK, some bitch on G4 who gave the game a low rating, claiming sexism despite obviously never beating the previous games.

Um, there are only 2 game reviewers left on G4, & neither of them is named Abbie Heppe.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

You mean Other M isn't sexist? The game's still pretty good so far. I have a feeling that fans of the series will be enjoying the dialogue and keructer develupmint more than other gamers.

But why oh why couldn't they have gotten a better VA for Samus?

Um, her parents were killed when she was a child, and she decided to become a "bounty-hunter" defender-of-the-peace as an excuse to cover a vengeance kick, probably inspired by issues of feeling insecure and impotency, after she was raised in secrecy by aliens? She should probably sound like a totally detached, major headcase. Like a self-justified sociopath who never made it past childhood ideas of justice and the inablity to accept ownership of responsibility, especially for life. Especially being raised where her few glimpses of humanity would be filtered through her own wounded mind, it's quite arguable that she would literally play at gender roles, and awkwardly so, after witnessing the humongous emphasis other humans place on them- and that she should probably sound like a person who is irresolute in all of her abilities and ideas.

Frankly, she shouldn't sound like a rational, regular person at all. Doubt much anyone could live up to that role, really.

Yes, the point was to have Samus sound like a loner, someone with a deeply troubled past, someone who's never adapted well to social situations and whose words don't come naturally.

That's not what Samus sounds like. She sounds like a Hooters waitress trying to make her big break in voice acting.

She wasn't just raised by aliens; she was raised by freaky Vulcan-like bird aliens.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
