Metroid: Confrontation

This is a sort-of tech demo from the folks over at Project AM2R, one of the impressive and ambitious projects aiming to update Metroid II to a Zero Mission graphical and gameplay style.

If I haven't made it clear, this is a very well-made fan game that just happens to be on the short side. It controls in a manner near-identical to Zero Mission, and has several bosses in it (including the Crocomire! woot)

Here's a short gameplay trailer:

Definitely worth playing for any fans of the 2D games, IMO. It supports gamepads/controllers, although strangely it seems incompatible with my 360 controller. I have a few other controllers that are compatible, however.

Wow, that's uber-cool.

I may check it out if I can get over my mound of schoolwork for this quarter.

I saw this topic and for a minute thought it was going to be something about a Metroid 5. Of course not though.

This is interesting, cause it reminds me that in one of the other Metroid games (probably Fusion) there where sprites of an unused Crocomire and some unfinished code (And some small crocomires too but that can be Super Metroid), you could make him a playable miniboss, but you had to whack the code with a fairly big hammer for him to work.

Nice to see that it appears that they could make him usable again!

Oh yes, the unused Crocomire was in Zero Mission, not Fusion. I actually have play tested a romhack of the incomplete Crocomire which was interesting, albeit not particularily well executed.

Ohh it was Zero mission after all, a bit emberassing when you can't get your facts stragiht.

But yeah as stated before, you needed to whack it whit a big hammer to get it to work and even then it was a bit flunked.
