You know, after the ending of Fusion, I was left wondering why there couldn't be any X somewhere else. In fact, I realized that you never made any contact with the federation ship. Is it possible that those ships could have gone directly to SR388 to snag some specimens. There's quite a possibility that the X threat will be reborn sometime soon.

Anyway, if there is going to be a MF2, I hope it's a third-person 3D game instead of a FPS.

Hm.. since the X are a natural species of SR388, I don't think they'd be found elsewhere (if they had actually wandered off of the planet, it's inferred that the universe would have been doomed).

You never meet the Federation Ship that comes to gather the X because Samus destroys the space station before they even get there. That was the reason for the urgency behind destroying the station and the planet.

I think the best thing that can be done with a sequel to Fusion-- or just a continuation further down the Metroid timeline-- is to show the consequences of Samus' (and Adam's) decisions. In the end of Fusion, Samus angrily notes that the Federation will hold tribunals about their misconduct. Also, the Federation was also revealed as being quite sneaky, covert, and possibly corrupt, as shown by the Secret Lab where the metroids were being grown (and the desire to control the X). A showdown of sorts between Samus and the corrupted parts of the Federation itself would be... so great. X_X

I never exactly understood how nuking the planet was going to stop the X parasites. Samus' missiles went right through them. They were, like, indestructable unless eaten by a Metroid. What was destroying the planet going to do?

And how the HELL does a space station have the power to reduce an entire planet to space dust?

If the X could survive space, they would have made it off planet already. >_> So... we can assume that they can't. I always assumed the missiles went through because they're very gooey or small and loosely clumped together (virus sized, ne?).

And um... it can with calculations from a super-intelligent genius mind. XD ... *shrugs* I dunno.

Metroid Fusion.. 2? Eh, the titles don't work that way. The 2D games have their own subtitles, and are numbered in a more linear manner. The Prime addition to the title is reserved for the 3D games. As for the whole Fusion suit thing, I hope they tie it up and loop it back around to a less fruity-looking Samus sometime soon. One without that hunchback thing they've been doing..

Maybe the Space Pirates got ahold of the X. I mean, it's obvious they were on the station, perhaps an infected Pirate used an escape pod and will take the X to the current Pirate HQ.

What would be interesting is when the Metroid contaiment area was jettisoned and destroyed, if the SA-X on it had survived somehow thanks to the suit and went off to another planet. That could be a good link to another Metroid game... and one question, if samus went to SR388 when hunting metroids in Metroid II, why didn't she encounter the X there and then?

^ Remember, Metroids ate the X parasites. When they were gone, the X parasites were pretty much free to go.

But it was still odd that she never encountered them until after returning the SR388 severy cycles later...Wouldn't you think that she would encounter them as she was killing off the Metroids?

Alucard, truth is, they didn't exist back then. Do you REALLY think Nintendo had planned "Well, there's these things on SR388 that you never see called X parasites. You never see them, but they're there. They'll be perfect for a future game!" while making Metroid II?

But ignoring common sense, yes, the Metroids ate them in such great quantities that they were vary scarce. Then when all the Metroids got wiped out, with nothing to keep them in check, they miltiplied and ran amok again.

It's like in that Star Trek episode with the Tribbles. At first there's only one, and a guy can fit in his trenchcoat. Next thing you know, the USS Enterprise is knee deep in them.

I think that a good sequel would be the Federation hunting Samus, and Samus having to battle them.
Also, I think that a good twist would be that the X parasites from the SA-X infested the animals that were aboard Samus' ship. They just used the intelligence gathered by the SA-X to lie dormant until they are dropped of somewhere by Samus.
Also note that Zebes still exists, it's just that it has changed forms.

The spaceship that applied the cure to Samus to save her was on a different place than BioLogic Research Station. It's feasible and extremely likely that they have samples of the X Virus taken from Samus for study.

I think I know a way for Samus to lose her powers (as she always does).

You know she gained her new abilities by absorbing X parasites, right? Maybe the metroid cells inside Samus' body would eat the X parasites, making Samus lose her abilities.

In fact, it occurs to me now that the metroid cells can mass-reproduce inside Samus' body, until they could re-form into full adult Metroids once again.

From that point, it could happen that the Metroids are "surgically removed" but they escape somehow.

Or perhaps they are ejected from Samus' body while in another planet.

So, to synthesize, several things could happen:

1) The pirates taking hold of the X
2) The Feds hunting Samus down
3) The Metroids reproducing inside Samus's body
4) And everything else I forgot

Also, I don't think Zebes changed form. It's as good as destroyed to me.

And to quote Adam, "I confirmed that [the Etecoons and Dachoras] were not X hosts and gave them a berth."

^The entire reason she could absorb X-parasites was that the Metroid DNA ate them.

Zebes still exists and I have unarguable proof. Observe:

Here we see Samus' ship escaping, the newly reformed planet Zebes, and the tiny spec on the right is the alien animals' ship escaping.
