Well if anyone here knows which guild this is in it's the Thieves Guild, I'm trying to finish it so I don't have to do any more Thieves Guilding. I got inside if the imperial palace and right when I got to the elder scrolls librairy, I broke my last lockpick trying to open the door. now I can't get back in because I need the guards room key to open the door to the guards room (or whatever the rooms named) the palace key doesn't open this door. So if anyone knows where I can get/steal the right key let me know. It shouldn't be a problem stealing it because my I'm a master at sneak so If anyone knows or has the guide book please answer back.

I don't know about the skeleton key, if it's real, but I know that when you go the prison either the fancypants guard or the one guarding the door has the room key. If you get caught pickpocketing *sigh* just serve your time, and when you're out, use either an "unlock very easy lock" spell or a lock-pick and get the key back from the evidence locker.

I've got the skeleton key, it makes your lockpicks never break, but the door NEEDS A KEY! IT CAN'T BE PICKED. that's why I'm looking for the guards room key, the palace key doesn't open the door and I need to find the right key. (all the guards have a palace key, but they don't have a guards room key. yet they can get through this door.) thanks for the help though.

I think the skeleton key is given to a master of security, you get it at the highest rank.

I HAVE THE SKELETON KEY NOW! I got it on a mission from the shrine of noctournal. I had to get the Eye of Noctournal in order to get the key. My security is now 104 but THAT DOESN'T MATTER! I Ran out of lockpicks. and I couldn't get passed any of the doors, so my only way out of the Imperial Palace was to get caught by a guard. now I can't get back into the 3rd floor of the Imperial Palace, because the Door needs a Key and Can't be picked, that's the only door you need a key, the rest have hard and very hard levels. So if anyone knows where to find this key, I would be much appreciated. oh, and if anyone needs to know.

I am a level 25 Khajiit,
Sneak-115
Security-104
Acrobatics-well, I'm an expert so somewhere between 75-99

so this mission shouldn't be a problem anymore. the problem was is that I only carried 3 lockpicks on this mission. so now I think I'm screwed.
