I got my Xbox last saturday(after the recent price drop from £300 to £200). And I got Halo, and DO3.
The controller is so comfortable. Anyone who says otherwise couldn't not of played Halo for an hour. And the size doesn't effect either, my 9 yr old sister can play too(she beat me on DOA3 damn it!).
I am now on level 8 of halo(easy mode!) and have earnt videos for Christy,Helena,Brad Wong,Tina, and some others.

One last thing, do you have to pay for Xbox Live, and does it need BroadBand(If it does I won't be able to use Live,as broadband is expensive £40 per mounth and not a lot of Brits get access to it).

Well i think everyone who thinks the controller is too big has some sort of whining syndrome or are ninty fanboys/anti-xbox peeps looking for a lame excuse to put down xbox. My hands are not that big(smaller than most peoples actually) and it doesnt affect my gameplay. i can gaurantee(unless your hands are as small as an infants) that everyone who is whining about the size of the controller just isnt holding it the proper way.

Are you kidding me? I am full grown (age:19) And I can't reach the black and white buttons at the top of the controller. I also find that the controller handles are to big the controller would be so much more comfortable if the controller was smaller. Look at that huge logo in the center, that is the biggest waste of space that I have ever seen in a controller. Now hold onto a GC or PS2 controller! they both fit in anyones hands better than an Xbox controller. they're lighter and every single button is within reach. Sure the Z button on GC controller is auquward but its rarely used. The 4 shoulder buttons on the PS2 controller should probably be 2 but at least each button is accesable. With the Xbox controller I have to litteraly look at the controller and slip my hand up the controller just to hit the white or black buttons.

Hold onto a GC controller within 15 minutes you completely adjust to the controller. I played Halo for a total of about 5 hours against 3 buddys. The guy who owned the Xbox kept killing us all. none of us ever really got good at the game even after playing multiplayer for hours. The only one that really was good was the owner. Durring this time I had to look down at the controller constantly to see what I was doing. The sad part was all of us play shooters all the time(PC,GC(the 1 that exists for now),PS2) so we are not new to the 1st person shooter genre at all. None of us had any trouble adjusting to bond on both GC and PS2. So yes I would say the xbox controller is poorly designed. I liked the "Xbox controller S" much better than the standard Xbox controller.

You should always start on hard in shooters then as you get stuck lower the difficulty. If you beat the game on the easy setting usualy there is no reason to beat the game on harder settings.

You can't really learn a controller in multiplayer.

The Gamecube controller doesn't work with my hand at all.

I don't like the black/white buttons, but they're not really important (most games I've played have them doing either camera or something along that lines).

XBox's controller is big. Whether that affects you or not is up to you.

I held one for a couple minutes when I played it at a demo station. When I let go my hands started to ache. Given enough time I'd get used to it, but the mere fact that my hands hurt signifies something about the controller.

let me ask you a simple question how old are you?? I'm 11 and because of that I have a small hand. I cannot reach many of the keys easily and have to slide my hand. Easily said.

Alright. My hand is 5", or 37 cm from thumb to to the start of the palm. The distance is 32 cm or 3 3/4", across my palm. From the start of the palm to the pinky, it is 6".

The xbox has a total length of 5", and a width of 7" att he furthest points. The distance of the buttons does not reach one cm long. The diff between the white and the (A) button is no more than half an inch.

If you cannot reach either side of the contoller you are a dwarf. I suggest you stop whinging and GROW. and my could have fit across the controller when I was 11. I'm small for my age thank you.

On eother thing; when people who liked the ps2 controller and bashed nintendo's 3 pronged design (where we going ot evolve a third arm in the near future) or it's annoying analog set up, I heard ninty fan's defend their controller. I also haerd that the ps1's controller was TOO SMALL. you're all just out to bash the x for what it's wiorth. Given, the controller ain't good, but, Can't reach the buttons? That's ridiculous.

There's a reason why Microsoft released the the S type controller and that's because most people complained about the original.

Maybe I should elaborate on what I said. I know 5 year olds who kick @$$ at Halo(if you're a politician don't tell me that now their going to murder innocent people. Just...shut up) The point is that all the buttons can be reached, and for most people who go to this board, they can be reached easily.

What everyone complains about is the extra plastic. When I first say the controller it looked like a Dreamcast controller with extra buttons and an extra control stick. And a lot of extra plastic. If your hands are small, you can get cramped easily from gripping the controller. Also, a lot of the people complained that the pressure on the L R triggers were too much. That's just BS. I like that for Halo. It probably cramps people with small hands though, I guess.

I dont care how big or small your hands are. That controller just aint right! If u have a xbox, at least buy xbox 2 controller. That was a good call of microsoft. gad! gamecube on the other hand(hahah hand, get it ahhh) is designed to make it feel like ur not even holding the controller while gameplay. unless ur have gigantic hands and your height is 7'2 u have a problem.

Any controller problems are overblown, except on gamecube because its not built for anything outside of a 3D game. Real fighting game? Not with that button layout.

Actually, before MS released the Box, they took a public survey (I don't know where) and found that most people liked the dreamcast controller, only they liked the ps2's dual analog feature... But as for the MS controller being too big, it was comfortable when I played Wreckless Yakuza Missions in the store, but...
