None of that is a legitimate comparison, because running is all you do in the Sonic games.

Jump while running in a Sonic game and you land on something painful.

I honestly don't think so. But even if there were, SMB kind of gets a pass for being the video game that made all subsequent video games possible.

This is the first level that popped into mind.

Believe you me, I prefer Mario to Sonic as well, but I just think your argument doesn't hold up at all.

I believe you. Because if I was right, Sonic wouldn't have become so popular.

...so you were arguing a point, fully knowing that you were wrong?

Are you a lawyer? Is that why you didn't post for a while? Busy with law school and internships and selling your soul?

see i can be jaded and short-sighted too.

None of that is a legitimate comparison, because jumping is all you do in the Mario games

None of that is a legitimate comparison, because exploring is all you do in the Legend of Zelda games

None of that is a legitimate comparison, because voicing your opinion is all you do in the VGF

Eh, I feel you on the whole Sonic's level design is a mess thing. SMB was made for speedrunning. Sonic's level designs are made to screw you over if you're running, because you inevitably move too fast to parse your actions. Sonic's levels are the force-you-to-memorise-the-whole-goddamn-thing kind of levels, past the first few. I always found Bonk's Adventure and its sequels to be a more legit competitor to the SMB series.

I have to say that Mario games definitely have more variety of gameplay than Sonic. Nintendo puts so much effort into variety of play I sometimes get entirely fed up with the lack of SMB-style gameplay.

This all has squat to do with the Xbox or TMNT, though, and more to do with MM's age old resentment of anything not on a Nintendo platform. I think Nintendo has just about severed all of their ties to the NES and SNES era Nintendo, though, so the point is moot. Sega is the best thing to happen to the Wii, lately, with the Conduit, House of the Dead, and Madworld all publishing through them.

I definitely agree about the Sonic level design. Sure, you could speed through them, but only after running through the level once slowly to learn the paths.

I actually prefer the night levels in Sonic Unleashed to the 2D Sonic games.

This could be one of the best things to hit the X-Box franchise.
