Rare's Kameo Sequel Canceled?

Rare's Kameo Sequel Canceled?

Quote:

Hope you're not holding your breath for a sequel to Kameo: Elements of Power. According to a CVG report, a follow-up to the Xbox 360 launch title was under development at Rare, but has since been canceled in favor of freeing up resources for the Project Natal launch.

In fact, CVG's sources stated that other Rare franchises also had sequels in the works, and they've all arrived at similar fates as Kameo 2. They didn't specify exactly which series had gotten the axe, but it's entirely possible that there were plans for a new Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, or Killer Instinct that will never see the light of day.

Though Rare's newfound focus on supporting Project Natal is partially to blame for the cancelations, CVG's insider also cites poor sales of the original Kameo as another reason for the abandoned sequel. And, honestly, were there really that many people who were looking forward to revisiting that world in the first place?

I would've played a 'Kameo' sequel. And I can't think of much that interests me less than Project Natal bullsh*t. So this is doubly lame.

Ugh. Not that I've played the game, but geez, let Nintendo do the Motion-Control stuff.

Another reason to hate Natal.

Welp. Good bye Rare, you've become the Natal support Company instead.

God damn it. You know, Rare just spent an assload of time a year back on those brick-stupid NXE avatars, too. What, did Microsoft pick them up just to do whatever worthless bitch-work they could dredge up?

Seems to be so.

I figured something like this anyway. You see what number they did to Bungie? A once intellectually stimulating game maker reduced to a million Halo games.

Though I never played Kameo, a sequel wouldn't hurt I guess.

I remember the scrapped ConkerBFD game a while back. It seems M$ doesn't want more money or good games.

Or maybe they just don't want what Rare is making.

I dont even like the Xbox 360, and i dont give a **** about the motion control, it's a formula that works, so can you blame companies for trying to make money from it.

Well, yeah, it's pretty disgusting that everyone tries to jump in line behind Nintendo after bad-mouthing them over the Wii. I can blame them for only being interested in money and being disloyal to their fanbases, sure. It's the copy-catting that has driven the industry to the blatant stagnation and over-complication that Nintendo sought to escape, and now the opportunists responsible for that want a piece of the pie, too. No surprise, but damn it doesn't make me like them much.

I don't know what kind of lunatic would pick Natal as a controller rather than the pad. Especially for shooters, I couldn't possibly imagine CoD being better than Red Steel with a motion-sensor.

Regardless, I don't know what Rare's doing but they need to stop. I didn't like Kameo in the first place, but Nuts and Bolts was a step in the right direction. They're supposed to re-release Perfect Dark like they did with the Banjo's, and I would be surprised if they didn't put Conker's BFD on the XBLM.

Well, as I see it there isn't much they could do for shooters with Natal, anyway.

I can't remember the specific story, but I heard that you can hold up a prop gun and the scanner will scan it into the game as a movable object.

It's not that I'm not a fan of Motion Control or anything, it's just that Natal smacks of being too futuristic to be very good. Like, it'll wonk out every once in a while, or it'll be worse than an actual controller.

I just don't know how they're gonna make that work.

you can at least put somewhat "hardcore" games on the wii (Conduit, MadWorld, Dead Space, Metroid, etc.) but I don't see a lot of "hardcore" games being used with Natal. Especially seeing that they're going to be a huge pain in the ass to develop.

I don't think copying the Wii will really help Sony or Microsoft that much. Remember when Sony tried to put motion sensory into their controllers? Have any PS3 games since launch even used that feature?
