Kinect Playable at Some Macy's Stores Starting Next Week

If you're anything like us, you associate Macy's with parades and Miracle on 34th Street, but soon the department store will sport Kinect demos as well. Starting July 15, thirteen Macy's stores will feature Kinect "preview" stations, allowing users to try out the device themselves. In addition, Macy's will giving away one Kinect per day between August 12-September 10 through a drawing on the company Web site.

Unlike the three Microsoft Store demos, which were located on or around the West Coast, this Macy's promotion actually spans the entire country. However, they're still located in large cities, so if you live in a more rural area you may need to travel a bit. Check below for the full list of Macy's stores that will feature Kinect, and go check it out next week.

Walmart Prices Kinect Bundle at $199

Confirmation of the final price of Microsoft's motion-controlled Kinect peripheral is getting closer, as retailer Walmart has begun taking preorders for a $199 bundle package.

The limited time offer includes a Kinect unit, a $30 online-only gift card, and one Kinect launch game of the purchaser's choice.

Though Microsoft has yet to officially confirm the Kinect's oft-cited $150 launch price, this promotion seems to lend some credibility to the rumor. Walmart itself has the standalone unit priced at $149.54, though until an official announcement comes, this is considered speculative.

So I went over to my aunt and uncle's Christmas party last night, and their kids got a Kinect. Tried it out. Seems like a good party/casual gaming thing. Can't see ever owning one myself.

The range of the Kinects is a large issue. My roommate says our apartment rooms are impossible to house one except maybe in the kitchen. If we moved the table. So, yeah, no go for us college kids.
