Halo: Reach Will Be Biggest Game Of 2010, Microsoft Says

Assuming it does arrive in 2010, Halo Reach will indeed be a huge release for Microsoft. However, it faces major competition, including StarCraft II, God of War III, and Final Fantasy XIII. All three are highly-anticipated releases, with Final Fantasy XIII being a multi-platform release.

Halo Reach isn't due for almost a year yet, but it's never too early to start speculating. Do you think Reach will make good on Greenberg's prediction?

It'll have quite a bit of competition.

Yeah it's not like Mario Galaxy 2 is coming out next year at all.

Eh, what did Galaxy do compared to Halo 3? Galaxy had about 8.5M, Halo 3 had about 10.5M.

Metroid Prime 3 got no marketing and didn't even sell 2M. MP Trilogy got less than no marketing and I don't think it broke a million.

God of War 3 is really the only competition IMO. Even then, the series hasn't peaked past the 3.5M mark in terms of sales.

GT5 is a little too niche to really put up Halo numbers IMO.

Does anyone really believe Starcraft is going to hit next year? Beta probably will. Retail release probably won't.

In terms of shooter competition: presumably a Treyarch CoD (less sales), Bioshock 2 (Winter/early Spring release, so less sales).

Nothing else really heavy. Considering ODST sold almost 4M ytd, Reach (which has more content) is going to put up at least that, if not 2x that since it won't have the "I already own the DLC why should I pay for ODST" thing.
