Each side got out of their trenches, sung carols, shook hands, exchanged gifts, and played a few games of football. If you can, take the time to read about it here and here. As a child, I remember hearing about this and really being surprised that something like this happened. Looking back on it now, I'm impressed in the good nature of the common man. How many current wars and conflicts can have a ceasefire on a magnitude like this? |
