Now, my class is EXTREMELY diverse right now, because my school is at an all time high with student enrollment (we musta gotten 40 new students over the summer) but to list a few or the arguments participants: - Katie: Extremely short, club foot, and one legs shorter than the other so she looks kinda weird. Shes kinda nasty and snaps at people quite a bit too, but blames her handicap for her lack of friends. She also acts smart and answers questions with words she doesnt know -Davia: Was presumed to be a lesbian until recently and is INCREDIBLY outspoken -Michael: Kid from Mongolia who thinks Ohio is heaven on earth for some reason -Taylor: Came from hawaii and was the only white person in her 35 kid high school; was discriminated against a lot -Jonathan: Came from England and has this omniscient view on most topics Trust me, it doesnt stop there, as we also have cheerleaders, goths, and drama queens to get through, but thats just a taste of how diverse this debate was. Anyways, I found out some things bout my town I had never realized, especially that my school is incredibly racist/ignorant of many things (But I am extremely angered by racism, so dont jump on me). Anyways, the question, what kinda clicks does your school have, and how do you view its overall acceptance of new ideas/people. Also, do you think you try harder than most to try to meet people when they're new, or do you just rely on their ability of them to be friendly and come meet you? Any other stuff you'd like to post on groups is fine by me, just try not to strike up an argument Basic groups in our school are (theres more, but Im lazy): -Preps -Dorks -Techies -Comedians -Punks And in the infamous words of Jonathan, "...the way I see it, everybody in that debate thought they were gods gift to people and were just socially lazy. How are we new kids supposed to meet people, by handing out pamphlets of our hobbies and interests and hoping to get a response?" [ September 15, 2004, 05:22 PM: Message edited by: Zippy ] |

Oreos/Sellouts- basically the black guy/girl who "acts white". The girls tend to be more respected than the boys though. C. "Pretty Boys"- The boys that spend more damn time in the mirror than their mom and sister combined, the "Don't touch the hair" guys, or whatever Myself: I'm a "I.A" person II. White Folks: A. Preps B. Goth C. Skateboarding D. Country E. "Pretty Boy Imaged" III. Other Folks Other races, every race here really is different. |

I was friends with whoever was willing. Then again, those obsessed with classification would say I fit the traditional type who travels freely among the different social groups. I would just say I wasn't dependant on everyone else for identity. In school, I was considered something different by everyone. Skater/punk/raver/stoner/techie/joker. All because of who my friends were. That was the biggest crock of sh*t I've ever experienced. I went out with a girl who wore black a lot for something like a week before I called it off (she asked me, and I said sure since I was single), and months later the school was all a buzz with 'the freak is going out with the witch'. Like wearing the color black makes you the gothest gothy goth in the world, and me dying my hair made me an absolute psycho. Whatever, being infamous has its perks. ![]() [ September 15, 2004, 05:23 PM: Message edited by: SPACE STALIN COMMIE LASER ATTACK ] |

Why keep eating the ham if there's chicken on the other counter? |

Not many cliques in my school. There are groups of friends and stuff like that, but the cliques pretty much disappeared in my class after middle school. | |

There are the preps, who I hate with my eternal soul. I really dissaprove of the whole "We have to look alike!" thing. Almost every girl seems to be one of them, and they just...won't...shut...up! Every time they open their mouths I feel like i'll just grip the desk so hard it'll snap. And then it'll turn worse because now I have nothing holding me back from jabbing the pointy part into their leg. Then the jocks, who are the male counterparts to the preps. Equally as dumb, obsessed with cars to the point of stupidity, and competative as hell. Don't play a particular sport with these *******s if you aren't good at it - they just think you're gay. And if you are good at it, then they start to cheat. And they're good at it. The "ghetto" people are usually black or mexican (shocking, I know,) but there are others too. For some reason, being tragically poor and living in bad neighborhoods where you could get shot on the street became popular, and here is the result. But wait! They aren't really living in bad neighborhoods! They just wish they were because it's just so damn cool to destroy language and act like you are an idiot and wear pants that fall to your ass! Oh, and they could beat anyone up. Even though all they know about fighting is from watching boxing matches on HBO. And bull**** "it's culture." It's not. Wow, I hate a lot of people. |
