They are the people who who everyone holds in high opinion, who have ratings of 5 stars, have a bajillion posts, or are just plain awesome. They are the people who you look up to but think you can never reach that level. Truly, they are the ones. Hotd, Jay, Tub-o-Troopa, even others such as Parrakarry are those people. The list just keeps getting longer. Many of them may just be in a single forum, others simply rule VGF. Most of them are mods, or admins, so that is mandatory, but some people even though they're just members you wouldn't dare to cross. Again, they rule VGF. Insults are directed at them, but normally they're never really serious. You just can't find fault with them. They're quoted, praised, or simply put in high regard. Some things are taken to extremes, such as Hotd's forum, but you can't help thinking they deserve it. Of course, lying within all this praise is a roiling sea of jealously, sometimes barely contained. You want people to respect you. You want to be this person so badly it eats at your soul. It's always there... But what is it like at the top? Do you feel superior, the same, or in the grey? Do you just feel powerful? Or are still that n00b who somehow made it to the top? I long to know. Of course, they all were n00bs, all made that awkward first post, all were yelled at, humiliated, and brushed aside. How on earth does the change happen? Do they slowly mature over the years, slowly attaining almost god-like impunity? I long to know what they were first like, if they felt the same way as me, as well. Sometimes I feel I could be one of them. Then I look at my tiny post count counting the largely stupid ones I've made, my 3 star rating, the angry posts directed at me, and then finally down at my n00bish self, and all hope is washed away... |

But there's no reason to feel like "all hope is washed away" It's an internet forum. |

| Super Bodyguard & King of the Arcade | First off, your post count has nothing to do with how well you're liked, it's merely an indication of how many times you've clicked the "Add Reply" (Or Topic) button...and that doesn't really say much. I think you're taking it a bit seriously...it's not like the people you mentioned do anything particularly different from anyone else. Just be yourself. |

| squeeeeeeeeee You're cool, Tigt! When I first joined.. way before this acct shows, I was a typical noob. I even asked what LOL meant. *giggles* I posted solely in the Zelda forum thinking that that ONE forum was VGF. It was only by accident I clicked (clumsy I tell you LOL) the specific character forums and discovered... OHMYGOSH a Mario forum. THEN the Miscellaneous forum. WHOA!!! There was some angst back then at times... I kinda got involved unintentionally and decided after an Admin set me right, to come back and try again. I always remember now that there are people on the other side of those other accts that make up the community of VGF. A couple of Mods of different forums asked for a little help in their boards with activity and I obliged. Regardless of my age and lack of seeming maturity, I've never held myself above anyone here at VGF (I hope *whops self for any times I may have* OUCH! ) and have 'played' all the games that pop up, made crazy and sometimes serious topics, mucked and roleplayed and joined in with everyone and anyone all over the place. It all adds up to a 20K post count. I enjoy being here. I hope it shows. Being voted in as a Mod was something really new to me and I adore the Admins whom have answered so many questions, listened to me ramble and generally advised me on how to approach things within my own style of always trying to leave people with dignity no matter that I have to sometimes change their post or whatever. Ditto with many fellow Mods.I feel extremely flattered that people hold me in such high regard and I sincerely hope that those and more know I truly enjoy seeing them too. It's the honest truth that I like so many people here... I see good in many. ...As opposed to those who see dead people perhaps. *grins* And my forum... Shane's wunnerful sense of humour due to me being the Codes Webmaster... or is that Codes Webmistress?! It's all TML-bro's fault anyways. Grrr Anyways... I have no advice on how to be... noticed more. *shrugs* Post. Be yourself. And you could always do as I try and treat others how you yourself would like to be treated. And, I assure you... we all started at post count 0. MARSHMALLOWS FOR ALL!!!!! Thanks for letting me ramble. Nice way to start the morning. ![]() | |

The well-known and well-liked people of VGF all have their own reputation (varied as they may be) and their contribution is much appreciated. ...Take that as a warning- none of you are allowed to leave. I will hunt you down I was a silly little Zelda forumer with little clue about message boards four years ago. Keep in mind I DID read the whole FAQ's before posting, though. After running in three Zelda forum Mod elections, one Misc and one Main, I finally got my Newbie forum and controlled it with an iron fist of deletion whenever the posts got too rowdy *cheer* Any of the newbies who stepped outta line were beaten with a dead fish Finally, after stalking Shane for long enough, he made me Admin and now I can make idle (or not so idle) threats of banning you all. Ah, what a life. |

I was (surprise, surprise) mainly in the Zelda forum, like HotD and Ess Dee. I was a complete n00b, using the forum a lot like I would AIM (until TML "yelled" at me...=O) but then I straightened out. After that, I went to Netgen for a little bit to hang out, came back here, and started acting less n00bish. I really can't remember when the transition from n00b to cynical ass came about. BUT IT HAPPENED. GRAAAAAAAAH. ![]() |

| Do Not Feed or Poke Join Date: Jan 2000 Location: Under your bed Gender: Posts: 37,114 Thanks: 0 Thanked 2 Times in 2 Posts | Ahh, post count isn't a very good indication of popularity. Especially not on this board. Also, I'd consider myself far more well known than popular. Few people on this board wouldn't know who "Tub" was, but to say I'm held amongst highest, especially at this point in VGF, is probably pushing it. People are liked for various reasons, and those that seem to have more fans than others just made themselves more well known. It's not like VGF is loaded with asskissers. (we do have quite a few though) Anyways, when I joined this place 5 years ago I was a stereotypical newbie- made dumb topics, asked all the questions which people get reamed for nowadays (How do you go from Junior Member to Member?) and pretty much tried to join in everything I could. I played in Ninty Main for a while, and I admit I pretty much followed Metal Mario around for a month or so, and as I participated and made my own topics I made a name for myself. Shortly afterwards I decided I HATE POKEMON! made a pretty retarded alias and wanted something new. Settled on Tub-o-Troopa!! and almost instantly I went from IHP to all variations of Tub. I was pleased with how well it caught on, though it opened the door for some pretty lame nicknames, like Tub-O-Poopa. Since then I've made a lot of friends and a few.. barely civil aquaintances, many of these relationships evolving drastically, particularly with members like HL and GTX. Enemy to best buddy and vice versa. Pestered Shane into giving me the Mario Forum position, left once the newbies started coming in like mosquitos, and returned to briefly tirade against TPAM and its lovers before becoming one of the biggest spammers on the board and buying a forum with Zhar, in order to make more spam. Woohoo! Got banned for being a POWAR ABUSAR (and unfortunately completely blew a very good chance at becoming Admin of Healthyforums), but after 2 hours on Time Out I stood before Shane and it was declared that without me the average IQ of a VGFer might increase. That absolutely could not happen if VGF was to compete with GameFAQs, and thus I was dragged from the grimy depths of Banland and ordered to pollute Misc with my filth. Not wanting to be molested by ^Link^ incarnations any longer I accepted the position and resumed my role of POWAR ABUSAR! Ignore the fact that it was well over a year after my unbanning that I got the position.. hey, you vets know just how long an election can be dragged on here There are some that find my perverted remarks and random screams TEH FUNNAY but like I mentioned earlier, that really doesn't make me among the highest. Being respected, on the other hand. There's a fine line between commanding a lot of respect among the members and having a likeable personality. Mosh, now, she fits the bill. ![]() [ January 31, 2005, 11:45 PM: Message edited by: Tubster ] |

| Super Bodyguard & King of the Arcade | Basically when I first came here I was the typical loudmouth newbie who nobody really liked. (Except for 1 or 2 people.) I pretty much stayed in the Zelda Forum when I first came but soon I decided to leave cause not many people liked me. So, a month later or two I decided to creep back to VGF to see what was going on, and saw a battlefield...thought it was cool and spent most of my time there. Eventually I started wandering to the other forums like Misc. and encountered all the games and stuff like TPAM and met alot of cool people in those topics, and I got to know them better through time. I never considered myself to be someone who was "well-known", (Tub already explained the difference so I won't go into) but someone who other members respected. That's kind of the short version, but you ge tthe drift. |

| Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | I'll just go on the record saying that I was much like what everyone else said. For myself, I was a neophyte to the internet, back in the pre-cambrian era when I only had dial-up. One of the things I was (and still am) really reluctant to do was create new topics; I must've made around 20 threads, like, ever. I'm not as active as other members are (I just only recently broke the 10k post mark), but I do lurk all of the boards. I have some really nice memories of the past on VGF, and I don't regret joining. It was certainly different back then, but it's still fun now. |

| All the girls standing in the line for the bathroom Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Birmingham, AL Gender: Posts: 13,221 Thanks: 981 Thanked 669 Times in 388 Posts | My only regret was not joining earleir when I first saw this place in 02, but I didn't know what a forum was, and, well to better put it, didn't care for them. After BOTVGH died, I began lookin' for somethin to replace them, I found NC, and began looking at those, through NC, I found VGF, and have been here for about a year now. I wasn't the typical n00b who doesn't have good sentence structure and spits out random comments that are bull, but in a way I still was n0bish, because, well, I was different than most here, so I sorta stood out like a sore thumb, but as some say "matured fast". There were never really any people I didn't like besides 314, and I didn't mind GTX until his goodbye topic (won't go into that though). The probably very first person I befriended was Malik, then Brandon, and the list goes on, I'm not sure but I got the feelin' when I was new here that Tub used to hate me, I know Phenom did (but we're cool now), in fact, the only two of that whole GFwhatever crew I got along with were Yami Yoshi and Phenom. __________________ ![]() Click here to level up my card! ![]() Click here to level up my license!
