For a message board about vidio games there really isn't that much discussion about them. I got the idea for this topic while teaching someone else how to play a game. This is just for fun. Rate your playing style and your own abilities as honestly as you can.

Natural Talent: You either have it or you don't. Have you always had an ability to pick up games and play them with little difficulty? I'd rate myself a 6\10 in this catigory. I've met people that could catch on to games much quicker than I can.

Experience: (9\10) I've got to admit, I've probably played far too many games in my life. While it's never consumed my life (thus the nine instead of a ten) I've played all sorts of games. Some I liked, some I didn't. I tend to remember all the little details to each title I've enjoyed, sometime to unhealth levels. While I may not have as much natual talent as some, I can still crush most of those young whippersnapers simply because I know everything that can happen and I can keep track of it all. I can't tell you what the controls to a game are because once I'm used to them it becomes second nature.

Adaptability: How well can you take something you learned from a game and use in different situation even if it's in another game? This is probably linked to the top two catigories. I give myself an 8\10 here because I can get used to a new game in a matter of a few minutes. I have no problem transfering concepts from one game to another or even building on them. Recently I discovered that I no longer even need to play a game that I've become proficient in to further improve. All I need to do is think about the play mechanics or watch someone else play and I'll continue to improve (to a point.)

On the other side, I've met people that always have to completely relearn an ability, no mater how similar the situation. To give an example, I once had a friend that would come over daily to play SSB with me. We eventually became pretty even, but then one day I discovered that I was the only one he could play against! Even people that I beat easily would quickly finish him off without difficulty. It turned out that even a slight change in playing style would completely throw him off.

Natual Talent: 9/10
I can pick up most games and play them with minimal difficulty, except FPS games...I hate thoes (except for the two Metroid Prime games)
Experience: 10/10
I have played games for every system, in every era, and even on my calculator, which I am in the middle of a really good RPG that is sort of a rip-off of FF X
Adaptablility: 10/10
Most of the things I am learnin in the 12th grade was learned from video games back when I was in the second grade. I can also take my straegies and use them in other games and in real life too.

Lesse... It's hard not think that I'm super-duper-mega-cool in all three of your aspects. And, I'll assume this scale is rigged towards gamers, not just the general populace.

Natual Talent: Mmm... Around seven. Maybe I'm pretty good because I've practiced and can find analogues between games I've spent hours in. And, my thumbs are, like, totally ripped. But, still, I know a few people who can consistently best me at some games.

Experience: I'd give myself six. I only recently got a current generation home console a couple of months ago, but I've played quite a few retro-ish games (here's a list of games I've played to completion; my resume, so to speak). It includes a lot of the 'classics', the games which have helped define the medium. It's all rather balanced, maybe a little RPG and action heavy, with some puzzle games thrown in for good measure. However, I'm missing driving-sim games and MMORPG experience (which I hope to be getting soon), and my arcade skills are not developed at all (e.g. DDR). I have a little fighter experience with Street Fighter II and Dead or Alive 2, but that's pretty limited.

Adaptability: Pretty good; I've give myself a eight. Of universal gaming skills, I've developed FPS skills from playing Quake III and Half-life which help out when playing others, platformer skills are quite transferrable, I've some limited RTS skills from Starcraft, and I've played more console RPGs than what is considered normal so I've got that pretty well covered. I find that I'm usually classifying new games in terms of other games, which is a sign, I guess.

It'd be fun to see most of you get schooled.

Natural Talent: (6/10) Depends upon the game... if you follow. Some games (puzzle games especially), I pick up really fast, and others drive me nuts with frustration!!! I have certain situations whereby I can't make something work... some short-out between the two brain cells... so I adapt my game playing around it. *giggles* NO, I'm not giving you any examples. XP

Experience: (8/10) I've played quite a few games... broad range although, never a FPS!! O_o Eeep!!

Adaptability: (9/10) This I do well... adapating things from one game to another!!!! I also pick up quickly upon another person's gaming style and can use that to my advantage if need be...

Generally, I play for fun... especially in multi-player games. I don't see the point of killing your opponent every time so that no one wishes to play with you!! *shrugs* It's not that I don't have a competitive edge; I just don't always abide by the Rules of the game. Rebel!! Whee!!! *cough* I'll often make House Rules in multi-player games and I swear, some of those times, are the best gaming moments ever!!!!
