I would like to thank you for trying to enforce the ESRB's power onto video games (GTA) because the Board IS needed to evaluate games, and parents should be notified of ratings. However, this is where my compliments stop. Going after Grand Theft Auto was reasonable. However, this does not automatically prove that all games- and gamers- are evil spawns of Satan. In fact, you have to be 17 to be able to BUY the game. So that means many kids were able to get this game from their parents. IT'S NOT ALL THE GAMER'S FAULTS. Guess what? In fact 55% of games released in 2004 were, in fact, E-rated. I guess Madagascar would encourage animal brutality, then? Maybe Super Mario enforces violence by jumping on a head, which is all over cartoons in homes and theatre, but I notice that you just don't seem to care. Maybe because games are an easy target that lets you inflate your ego? Youth violence is even at an all-time low, but you just don't seem to notice that in your little world? And I've heard your complaints and threats. One of your rants that happened to really annoy me would have to be against Scott R., author of VG Cats. He makes a COMIC STRIP, one that uses parody as a literary object. You begin by crying about his parody, and when you've lost that battle, you begin making schoolyard taunts. Hmm... I've heard kids say things to you like "i'm going to kill you". Guess what? It's always a joke. Going after the Sims 2 is useless. EA knew about the mods, but what could they do? Arrest the hackers? Jack, it doesn't work like that. The people can use the hack IF THEY WANT. They can make it an M-rated game IF THEY WANT. But you seem to immediatly think that everyone will suddenly have this. They won't. You've gone too far. And if I get an automated message back, saying "THIS IS ILLEGAL E-STALKING", you'll be happy to know I'm a 13- year old, one that plays games every day, one that hasn't gone to kill people. Now, please, stop this madness. Sincerly, Adam Bartek. www.gamersalliance.org Unfortunately, he'll probably think this will be another 1-sentance threat from morons in the gaming community, and put up an automatic response... |
