Thumbs up Comic Discussion

Put here because I could not find a make-a-comic-discussion forum.

Well, myself recently (recently being about 2 years ago) got into comics. Mostly old ones. So, this here thread is where you can discuss on the topic of comics, because they are just so wonderful that they deserve it.

Anyway, my comic collection is okay. I have 15-20 Sonic The Hedgehog comics, which I gave up on because it sucked, around 50 Disney comics from the 80's, Ultimate Spiderman issue one, and today recieved Super Mario Bros issue 1, which I am loving. I won't even attempt to get a comic made before the 80's, I will not waste well over $100 for a comic. I'm sure you guys wouldn't either.

Right?

Well, there's always the Comics & Spriting forum, or the Art, Literature, & Writing forum.

I understand this is about comic books. I haven't collected them in years, but I had a few real nice ones which would likely be rather valuable someday. Too bad I read them so much.

My favorite moment in the Marvel Universe was the Age of Apocalypse; that was just badassed.

I also used to have a decent collection of the Super Mario Bros. comic books, along with Ducktales and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles books. My first ever comic book was something like #1 in the Ducktales series.

My favorite Marvel vigilantes have been Wolverine, Darkhawk, the Scarlet Spider, Black Spiderman, and Venom. I was never too big on anything DC did, but I think Batman is pretty awesome. The Dark Knight is definitely the epitome of awesome costumed dudes.

Is the Ultimate Spiderman the one where they redesigned his suit after Ben Reilly became Spiderman? If it is, I certainly had that one. I also had the whole Maximum Clonage series leading up to it. In mentioning that, I should also say that I had the whole Maximum Carnage series. It was pwnage.

Okay, I just checked out the Ultimate Spiderman, and I see that it's a new (?) series. I can't say I like the art much.

The one I was thinking of was The Sensational Spiderman, of which I own the #0 issue. The Sensational Spider-Man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My comic collection is pretty all right. Like AI, I never really got into DC at all--about the only DC books I have are the 'Superman gets dead and then comes back' trades. Batman rules, but only if I'm watching instead of reading.

My favourite Marvel characters are the Punisher and Nick Fury. They're gritty. I don't have many Punisher books (mostly just trades), but I do have the entire comic series of 'Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD' (tracking them all down was a lot of fun).

I was big into some of the X-Men series when I was a lot younger, but I kind of got out a little while after the old 'someone or other goes back in time and kills Professor X' thing back in the mid-nineties--it was getting to be the next thing to a damn soap opera.

Outside of Marvel, I've gotten into Dark Horse's big serii (Sin City, Hellboy, and especially Usagi Yojimbo), and it was pretty much inevitale that I'd snap into their Star Wars stuff, too.

Cerebus rules.

Haven't bought any comics for a while. Trades are usually cheaper and less vulnerable to damage, so I tend to opt for those these days.

I've always been a huge DC fan. I grew up on reruns of the 1966 Batman, not to mention that totally badass movie from 1989 with Michael Keaton and featuring music from Prince.

"Trust. Who do ya..."

Superman's alright, but he seems a little too ridiculous to the point where he's cheap, with all the powers he has. The Flash and Green Lantern kick ass, though. I would totally kick it with those guys.

I can dig Marvel too, though. I've always liked Spider-Man because he's so witty, plus his powers are pretty badass. Wolverine's a pretty cool guy, too, with those friggin' huge claws and the healing factor.

So yeah. Comic books are awesome.

Yeah, I'm definitely with Dylan--more of a DC fan. Ollie Queen is a god, and the Quiver is one of the best story arcs I've ever read. That one, City Walls, and all the ones drawn by that artist were fantastic. Such a cool style.

Also, the Flash and Green Lantern rock. Wally West is awesome, and the Green Lantern Corps is quite possibly the best series on the shelves right now.

Oh, and Young Justice is my favorite comic book by far. So much fun.

Also, Spoiler is awesome and they suck for killing her.

Arrow Y'know...

The only reason I don't like Superman much is because I think his powers are so damn unfair.

Also, isn't the Flash dead or something? Thats what I heard.

No joke, my comic book collection numbers in the thousands. My dad started buying comic books for me when I was in the fourth grade. My parents and teachers noticed right away that I had advanced reading skills and comprehenshion for a kid my age. I have all sorts of comics ranging from Special Editions to just straight wastes of paper.

And when I say everything I mean everything. I have Alf comic books, Dinosaurs (from the old TV series of the same name) and a Mr. T comics. I also have a very large and assorted comic collection of DC, Dark Horse, Marvel and VIVID.

My most prized possessions would be my Silver Surfer #1 first edition signed by Stan Lee at a Comic Book Convention in 95. My death and rebirth of Superman original print with certificate of authentication sealed in Mylar black promo bag. My Wolverine weapon X series all original prints, my web of Spiderman # 18 & 24 (first appearance of Venom) and of course my Uncanny X-Men original # 3 and my entire Daredevil collection leading up to the end of Daredevil redemption. Also my collection of the Infinite Wars (All three of them).

My favorite DC Hero - Superman (loved him since I was kid) close second comes Green Lantern and then the Bats and then Dr. Fate and Captain Marvel (Shazam)!!

In Marvel - Daredevil, Spiderman, Dr. Strange, X-men Blue Team and Adam Warlock,

I stopped collecting comics once I finished my second year in college as I didn't have the time or money (life of a college student) to continue my obssesion.

But pretty much yeah, I'm a comic book fanatic always have been always will be. I love COMICS !!

Every Flash to ever don the moniker and costume has died.

Jay Garrick - Flash from the Silver Age the one with the metal Hermes hat.

Barry Allen - Was at the end of the Silver Age and new era comics passed the mantle of Flash to Wally

Wally West - Is the version of Flash that I grew up with (80's -90's) he was the most popular flash to date

Bart Allen - Grandson of Barry contained the entire speed force within his body (means he was the fastest of all the Flash's) recently died at the hands of Rogue squadren. Assumed to still be alive as his spirit was transported into the Source Wall and kept in suspended animation with in the speed force.

^ Yup he ran backwards in time and ended up in the present eventually taking Wally's place when he was killed. But while Wally was alive and Impulse was working with young justice the two of them kept their own costumes. It wasn't untill young justice disbanded and most of the team went on to rebuild the Teen Titans that Impulse took on the costume and became the new flash.

I went home during my lunch break (luxury of working 3 miles from work) and took a few pics with my camera phone. The first two are of the small amount that I keep in my garage at home. The rest I have in a storage unit with alot of my wife's stuff.

This is a small sample of how many comics come in each box. I rotate the boxes from garage to storage unit once every year.

These are all Marvel comics and a few Dark Horse

This box covers three seperate Spiderman Sotry Arcs

Box full of random special edition comics from both DC and Marvel

Again random comics from DC, Marvel, Malibu and Dark Horse

This box is my baby, I keep this one in my room. It is the entire Doomsday series leading up to and immediatly preceeding
Superman's death.

Its too small to see but my name is written on the box in pencil

Not too long ago, it was shortly after the Imperix story arc that killed a few hero's. He was killed by the Rogue squadren in a kamakazi style explosion. But a couple of recent comics have eluded to the fact that his spirit was simply transported by the Speed Force to the Source Wall.
