'Sarai' was the name I'd originally picked out for an internet persona when I first went online 'bout '97. I had just started using it when the manga 'Sarai' started appearing on shelves in English translation out here. The manga by that name is a super-bloody post-nuclear-apocalyptic sex-and-mutant-erotic-battle-maids-with-swords sort of a thing, and really, *really* didn't fit my image (still doesn't, when you get down to it), and I really didn't want to be associated directly with it (which I knew, even then, could easily happen over the intarweb). So, I grabbed 'Selene', and attached that to my first character/persona.

Given the sheer ridiculous godmody stupidity I engaged in with all ~~five~~ six incarnations of that character, I'd rather not keep ahold of that name, and now that that manga is out of the way, and I can associate the name with a much more valid persona and character, I'm a lot happier to go by 'Sarai'. 'Samiel' is just sort of what came about from a mixture of other things:

-I still like Ranma 1/2.
-I am bisexual.
-I have two very distinct ways of functioning.
-I see way too many other women out there whose male characters are either stereotyped ultramales (i.e. ubermuscular or superbishounen) or gay - it seems pretty ridiculous to me.
-Too many male characters, regardless of who is playing them, are either all ragey or all angsty.
-I figured I really needed some way to split off my more analytical way of functioning, so I could be more naturally emotional around places like this where I can be as brave as I pretend I am.
