Epic Hail Storm

IT suddenly started hailing and we got a record. So much hail came down, it looked like it snowed in the neighbour's lawns! There were piles of it that were a couple cm thick, too. I had to actually shovel the driveway. So get this image...someone with a yellow poncho shoveling the driveway wearing shorts and flip flops.

Unfortunately, there's literally a meter of hail. :< One of our Peonies is likely dead because all the hail on the roof fell right onto it, burying it in hail.

So far the casualties in the yard are:

-Morning Glories
-Lantanas
-Two roses
-One pot with a Lantana.
-One 10-year-old Peonies.
-Potentially a violet
-Four sedums
-FIIIIIVE GOLDEN RINGS
-Four calling birds
-Three french hens
-Two turtle doves
-And a partridge in a pear tree.

So I go out to inspect more damage...and a car slides on the hail piles on the road and hits a stop sign. >.<; Nobody's hurt, I call the cops and within 20 minutes they're there. However, the drainage ditch by the house swelled to four feet, and the hail built up into canyon walls. :O I've never seen that happen before. The park flooded (again) and there's hail EVERYwhere. It's like it suddenly snowed. or it started raining while snowing again. One of the ditches has five feet of hail built up, or it's all just a big layer of hail on top of the water. >.<;

IF you wanna know....this is a picture from somebody in town's deck. Hail on the deck on Twitpic LOOK AT THAT.

Crazy stuff, man. We had a big hailstorm come through not too long back. Still see cars with damage from that storm.

Yeah. I got hit by a couple hailstones cause I reached out to grab a couple to put in the freezer. I've seen hail damage and other hailstorms, but NOTHING like this.

It's still storming out, even. My poor dachshund is terrified, I heard her crying outside my door cause she wants to sleep in my bed. (Don't worry; she wasn't outside.)

Right now we're having a Flash Flood warning. I'm just hoping the Sump-pump is still working, it'd really suck if the basement flooded again.

Wow!! That is amazing!!

I hope that you don't experience flooding... again?!

On the other hand, we are having another very dry winter and would appreciate some storms... just the right size storms, of course!!!

Whenever the sump-pump breaks, the basement floods.

And another update on the weird day of storm. We were woken up by our dogs this morning because we heard one of them barking. We go downstairs, and there's a cat in the house. She was sopping wet and freezing, so we wrapped her up in towels and blankets to dry off. Fortunately, I recognized her as the neighbour's cat, and it especially helped that she had a collar on to confirm it.
