The list was originally about something else, and I changed it at the last minute, and I left him in there inadvertently. |

A villain who's motivated by something, even if it's just lust for power, is far more compelling than a villain who's just a dick for no reason at all. Though dicks can be redeemed if they're funny. I'd have to think pretty hard about my favorite and least favorite villains, but for now at least, I have a tier list of Disney villains I made last year. |

" Also LOOK OUT THAT FOUNTAIN BLASTIA-POWERED SWORD ALLOWS HIM TO FLY)Main Villain of ToS (everything about this guy is funny seriously, though I'm probably just laughing at something that is actually kinda serious) Absolute Best Villains Marche Dr. Light Adam Malkovich |

A classic example of being evil because it's just fun is Iago. He's not jealous, just a little iffed that he didn't get promoted, so he decides to make Otello's life an absolute hell. Dolores Umbridge is one of my absolute favorite villains, despite not actually being a villain per se. She gives all the reason to hate her, and it's done masterfully. You're not supposed to LIKE the villain. However you are free to enjoy in how deliciously evil their actions are. |

They're pretty common, usually in "good vs evil" scenarios which typically make no sense whatsoever. |

A good villain to me needs to have some sort of entertaining quality beyond "holy crap, that dude's a jerk". A sense of humor is a great example of such a trait. Now that this guy's got your attention, now he needs your respect. Harmless funny villains are fine and all, but competent funny villains are even better. It's always more fun when the hero has to earn their victory. These are the two qualities that make up my opinion of a great villain. Adding "heinous jackass" to the mix is optional, but pleasing. |
