Name origins

A lot of people here have some interesting usernames, so I'm wondering where does your username come from? Is it a reference to something? Why'd you choose that name?

Mine comes from the Tritoch summon from Final Fantasy VI. The Japanese name for the summon is "Varigarumanda", which I romanized to "Valigarmander". (Apparently, more recent English translations of FFVI have dubbed the summon "Valigarmanda".) I picked that name because FFVI is my favorite game, and Tritoch is one of my favorite Espers from the game. I first used the name Valigarmander on a forum in 2006 (not this one), and I've stuck with it since. It appears that the name is esoteric enough that nobody else I've encountered on the interwebs has a similar username.

Some of you have heard this story before.

Way in the way back when, I went to a summer day camp, at which everyone wore name tags with their health information on the back. I have mild pollen allergies. Over the course of the day, as one runs around, one's name tag often gets flipped around. A lot of the staff & other campers then thought they were clever when they would address me by my health info: "AL Hayfever".
I developed a character based on that experience, in the process giving him a full name & making him a pilot, so Captain Alexander Joseph Hayfever was born.

Every once in a great while, I come across somebody ripping off my web handle. Accept no substitutes.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I was playing the hell out of Ocarina of Time in the year 2000 and always liked the atmosphere of the Kokiri related areas. I modified the spelling when the name of the Wii was announced because I thought it was a funny name.

Hi. I'm Jen. And the rest is partially a nickname my older brother called me and partially because I'm rather morbid.

A.I. is short for Automatic Idiot. I took it on as a username at another messageboard where I was accused of being wrong in several discussions simply for being any number of things like appearing to have a "liberal" bias, being younger than other members, and apparently being too unassuming for someone's taste. It was a pretty ridiculous situation, considering I actually ran a site hosted by the same server as the messageboard but was banned/deleted for disliking blind pride in military by an overzealous administrator. Not that it was permanent, or relevant since they were just trying to flex their e-muscles.

The "compromise" was that I was still a mod on the board, simply dropped a new username for myself in the database, and so long as no one started crap with me again I wouldn't delete the accounts of those involved or the board outright. Or, you know, do naughtier things like setup an attack script.

I have a vast enthusiasm for octopus(es). They're pretty much one of the coolest and creepiest animals ever all at once.

People call me the Bry man; I'm the stylish one of the group. I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon.

I joined this forum the second day I was allowed to use my own internet on my own computer, the day after my 13th birthday. In middle school, any time that I spent NOT on Paper Mario was instead spent on Ocarina of Time [or Majora's Mask].

I always loved Kakariko Village and attacking cuccos and flying around on them and jumping on roofs and talking to that weird guy on that one roof who I always now for some reason think of as AI. I thought the village had a nice atmosphere and I loved just talking to ALL OF THE NPCS ALL OF THEM as a kid and an adult, hearing what they had to say and learning the stories of the village. Most prominent was the family tree of the cucco lady, who I thought was awesome because she had chickens, and who I also thought was pretty, which was A VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR in deciding whether I liked characters or not when I was 13. So I decided she was awesome, and so when I joined this forum I used the name I refer to her as... the cucco lady. It stuck. I would honestly respond to "CL" irl if someone called me that.

Old: My comic character Mush Man, only mashed together into only Mushman.

New: Star Trek, the color red(best color ever), and I tend to act like a redshirt in Co-Op video games (saving other people who are in trouble and usually dying in the process), also over half my Tshirts are red.
