A Long Goodbye (Thanks, Everyone)

I know that I've been very, very inactive over the last six months or more. My post count has dwindled, you may have even forgotten me, but I just felt the need to make this post. It may not even seem like it needs to be put it into words, but I felt like I should give some closure.

I'm leaving. Forever.

They say that VGF always calls you back, but my interests have changed, this place has changed, and life is moving fast. And so I leave.

But. I just want to say VGF was a hugely important part of my life back in the day. Neglected Characters, the Gunjin, spriting and more are permanently etched into the memories of my 11th and 12th years. The nostalgia of these things will never go away. I know what it is to be a Veteran; to remember AI's beautifully drawn signatures, Joker's excellent Gunjin prose, Jay actually posting frequently, Glyph Phoenix's searing criticism and much more. Hell, I even remember switching to VBulletin. When I get nostalgic, this place is what first comes to mind.

However, many of these things are gone. The Gunjin is completely abandoned and NC is still in its mode of nigh-nonexistant updating. I've lost all interest in spriting. No offense intended for you younger folks, but there's nothing here for me anymore.

Again, I don't know if anyone will even care to read this, but I felt the need to let this out anyway. Because although my farewell is finally official, I just want to say:

I'll always hold VGF deep inside me. The things this website has introduce me to have had a tremendous influence on me that has lasted for a long, long, long time and will continue to do so, indefinitely. Especially to those other codgers who remember all this, I say

My post count may be low, but I've been on this site as long as you have, and I share the same memories. They were great, even though that's all they are now, memories. I do see where you're coming from, and respect your decision, but you don't have to make it final. If you ever do want to come back, don't hesitate like I did.

I understand that VGF has changed and it can be difficult to accept change, but it's a part of life. You are ALWAYS welcome to tell us about your new interests anytime you want. Heck, you may be surprised to find that others even share them...

Anyways... *leaves you a glowing trail of marshmallows to follow back to VGF* when you remember to... follow those sugary delights back and say hi!!! *grinnie for you*
