Here's mine (in order of release): Elektra - Jan 14 Instead of getting a sequel to Daredevil, we get a spinoff. There are both good and bad things with this movie. The good things include Elektra looking more like she does in the comic book and the introduction of the character of Stick (I don't understand why he wasn't in DD, since he WAS Daredevil's trainer). The bad stuff is I'm not sure how close to the comics this movie is. Like, after Catwoman does anyone want to see another comicbook movie that's not faithful to the source? I still might check it out. Cursed - February 25 This is Wes Craven's first film since Scream 3 in 2000....and it's written by the person who wrote Scream. The similarities between Scream and this Werewolf flick don't end there. I saw the teaser poster a few weeks ago, and it looks VERY similar to the teaser poster for Scream. The major flaw with this movie has to be it's many production woes, with rewrites and such. However, I think it's still worth a look. Be Cool - March 4 Get Shorty was a fun little movie and I am very interested to see the sequel. Plus who wouldn't want to see The Rock playing a gay bodyguard? Robots - March 11 With so many CG movies coming out, you don't know which ones would be good or bad. This one, staring Ewan McGregor and Robin Williams, looks pretty good. The Ring Two - March 18 This movie it literally at the top of my "to see" list, second only to a certain superhero movie. I loved the first movie and the sequel shows a lot of promise with the original Japanese director at the helm. Plus, the teaser trailer is creapy. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - May 6 There's already a whole topic about this movie, so I'll just say that it looks interested enough for me to check it out. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith - May 20 Who doesn't want to see Star Wars? The Longest Yard - May 27 Every year Adam Sandler comes out with a comedy. And this is it. And it's a remake of an old Burt Reynolds movie. And Burt Reynolds is in it. That's all. and finally Batman Begins - June 17 In 1995, when I was only 13 years old, Batman Forever was the first movie I saw without a parent accompaning me (though I did go with my sister and some friends). I anticipated that movie for weeks, even going so far as to watching Tim Burton's orignal Batman every week leading to the release. Of course, the end result wasn't really worth the hype. Now 10 years later, I shall get excited again for the rebirth of the Batman franchise. This one of the best casts ever for the series (which includes Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, & Gary Oldman), and Memento's Christopher Nolan directing, this looks to be the best of the Batman movie. The studio may be taking a chance by using one of the less mainstream Batman villains (Ra's Al Ghul), however the inclusion of The Scarecrow (who is my favourite Batman villain BTW) should even things out. This is the movie to see in 2005 (for me that is). Well, that's the first half of 2005. Now it's your turn. |

Star Wars might work out; I mean, we're guaranteed at least one good scene in the Obi-Wan/Anakin fight. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

Even 'Be Cool' and 'Star Wars' evince little more than a non-committal 'ehh' from me. Still, there's always 'Sin City'... |

Other than that, movies continue to be a desolate wasteland to me. And Sin City might be good, I guess. |

In other words, it's supposedly coming around November/December 2005). |

Friggin' thing looks like a tractor. But then, anything will be better than Batman & Robin. Holy hell did that movie suck. |

It's like a rule. The movie is then thrown into the So Bad It Becomes a Trend category, or something. They ruined Bane, though(****ERS!). So Batman Begins better make up for it. |

Anywho, about 7 months later, here are the movies I want to see for the second half of 2005 (be prepared for A LOT of summer flicks in this list): War of the Worlds - June 29 Aliens? Tom Cruise? Steven Speilberg? I'm in. Fantastic Four - July 8 I don't think this movie has a chance of beating "Batman Begins" in the title of "Best Comicbook Movie of the Year," but I am still a Fantastic Four fan and I will definitely check this movie out. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - July 15 I will see any Tim Burton movie. Wedding Crashers - July 15 This promises to be my guilty-pleasure movie of the year. The Island - July 22 Michael Bay directing a sci-fi film? Well, I like the trailer, so this film's worth a look. The Dukes of Hazzard - August 5 I'm a fan of both the TV Show and Broken Lizard (member Jay Chandrasekhar is directing and the rest of the members helped with the writing and have cameo appearances), so I will definitely will be checking this movie out. However, I still can't STAND Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke. Red Eye - August 19 I've very interested in seeing this new triller by Wes Craven. Also, after seeing Batman Begins, I'm eager to see Cillian Murphy in another villainous role. Corpse Bride - September 23 This stop-motion film is classic Tim Burton all the way. Can't wait. Elizabethtown - October 14 I haven't seen anything other than promotion photos, but I've always liked Cameron Crowe's films, so I'll probably check this one out. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - November 18 Personally, I'm surprised that the producers are managing to make this movies and good pace, so the actors stay in roughly a similar age to the characters. Apprently this movie has become the most expensive movie to make (ever). Personally, I'll looking forward to another epic-length Harry Potter movie (and based on the length of the book, this will be), after quite-short (compared to the first 2) third film. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - December 9 With Lord of the Rings gone, you need another famous book series to take it's place. This film even has the special effects done by the same company as LOTR (WETA). This movie should be interesting. and last, but definitely not least: King Kong - December 16 Peter Jackson is following LOTR with, what some say is, one of the most unnecessary remakes in history. But, this was a dream project for Jackson and with a very good cast (Naomi Watts, Adrian Brody, Jack Black, and Andy "Gollum" Serkis as King Kong), this should be one of the biggest films of the Holiday season. | |
