The Aviator and Million Dollar Baby. I just caught this movie (which is still in limited release) today. Wow. Very good movie. Contrary to what you might think, this movie isn't really about boxing (though there is plenty of that). This movie more is about the growing relationship between Clint Eastwood's Frankie Dunn and Hilary Swank's Maggie Fitzgerald. At the start of the movie, Frankie is pretty despised at the fact that this girl comes asking him to train her how to box. But as the film goes along, Frankie seems to turn into a second father for Maggie (while, subsequently Maggie becomes a second daughter for Frankie -- Frankie is estranged from his real daughter thoughout the film). Without saying too much, I will definitely this is the most emotional film I've seen this year and it defenitely has a good chance at winning big at the Oscars. |
