I probably spelled that wrong.

See, I'm writing a horror story for the first time, I know books would probably be better for me but I really can't focus on a book for too long) so I need some ideas for horror.

I was thinking about going out tonight or tommorow and renting a couple horror flicks to see what other script-writers have come up with. I need something with an ending that will leave the audience in chills.

Mine involves ghosts and the main character going insane. I'm not sure how to give enough details to help you recommend, but anything really would help..

Movies I have already seen:

The Ring/Ringu
The Grudge/Ju-On
Sleepy Hollow

...and I think that's it. Sad eh? Well, help me if you can...

Read The Shining. If you want to write horror, read horror. I cannot stress this enough.

I'd go with the older horror movies. Despite the cheesy acting, and effects, some of them actually have quite good scripts.

If you're only looking for twist endings, I'd get a Twilight Zone DVD box set.

edit: And whatever you do, DON'T use the "It was all a dream... Or WAS it?" ending. That's been overused to death.

Pretty much any movie by Alfred Hitchcock (except The Birds, that one stank).

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

If it helps, the best twist ending I've ever seen was where aliens had come down to Earth in order to help man end wars, famines, etc. with the help of an omnipresent manual entitled "To Serve Man". However, at the end,

[SPOILERS!]

the manual is revealed to be... a cookbook (To Serve Man... Get it?).

[/SPOILERS!]
