Why remakes are not always a good idea

Y'know...Hollywood needs to stop remaking good old movies. For every one that turns out well ('Ladykillers', for example), there's a good dozen or so that stink on ice.

I'm waiting for someone to buck the trend and remake a movie that was lousy to begin with. That way, if the remake ends up terrible, at least you don't have to worry about fans of the original complaining.

On the subject of good remakes to bad movies, apparently the original Ocean's 11 was very dull.

This looks awful. Instead of using the original formula to make a good plot, funny movie, they complicate it and make it stupid. God bless Will Ferrell. He is a brave man.
