Just saw it at midnight. Pretty sweet-- anyone else get to see it?

A friend of mine went to see the screening last night, so I'll get to hear alllll about it today. However, it looks great.

This really peeves me off, Batman Begins is getting great reviews (currently 83% on Rotten Tomatoes), but I have to read one of the only newspapers that gives it a BAD review.

Heck the reviewer is even quoted on IMDB:
Quote:
Geoff Pevere in the Toronto Star dismisses it as "surprisingly boring and lumpy."
On the brightside, I haven't trusted Geoff Pevere to write an un-biased review (especially of genre films) in like ever. You can only give movies 2 stars (or less) so many times before it gets boring.

Well, I've seen it, and it rocks. The Scarecrow is great, but you don't see that much of him, and it's a darn shame. The gadgets are very, very cool.

Overall, acting is good, effects are good, fights are good, etc.

The bum was my favorite character, next to Alfred.

Lumpy?

Saw it today and I liked it. It was not quite what I expected: it was more an action movie than a comic book movie. There were also some cliches in the plot/script that I think it could've done without.

It's miles better than the Joel Schumacher Batmans, but I'm not too sure if it's better than the Tim Burton ones. I missed the Danny Elfman score.

Saw it last night, really loved it.

As good as the first two and 1000 times better than the 3rd and 4th. Great acting, great story, great characters. Just a really good movie. And that's rare these days, from a Batman movie or otherwise.

One thing I really loved was the kickass new batmobile. That car could really beat the crap out of the previous batmobiles. I found a cool site that kinda gives more detail about the batmobile, in case anyone's interested:

http://www.howstuffworks.com/batmobile.htm

Pretty neat, gives both fictional and real info about the batmobile.

In any case I really loved the movie. Now I hope they don't screw up the 8 movies that will enevitably follow.

I liked the 3rd and 4th, but as I've stated before, I'm easily pleased. Can't wait to see Scarecrow. He is a tight and demented villan in other Batman media, so you know he must be good here, OR ELSE!

Saw it today. Very good movie. There are some things I want to talk about that requires [SPOILERS]
I found it very clever that Liam Neeson turned out to be Ra's Al Ghul, especially since he was rumoured/announced to be playing him weeks before Ken Watanabe was cast (which leads me to believe that Watanabe's role was just a ruse to keep the truth away from the public).

I LOVED the Scarecrow in the movie (he's one my favourite Batman villains). If only he didn't leave so anticlimactically (taser to the face), though the revelation that he escaped (meaning he could return in one of the sequels) was more than enough consolation.

P.S. Who else got chills when it was revealed that the Joker is coming?
[/SPOILERS]

Loved it, probably my favorite superhero movie now. I loved how it seemed "real", nothing took away from the movie by being so obviously CGI that it stood out (like some stuff in Spiderman).

Joker thing was awesome.

I saw it today and liked it better than any of the previous ones.

I liked how they didn't kill off the villains (NEVER liked that in the previous ones) and kept it fairly open for a Scarcrow or Ra's al Ghul return in a future movie (Not buying Ra's dead).

The joker thing was a mixed bag for me. It was halfway a great device to throw in there, but it also seemed like they were trying to club the audience over the head with it. Potential problems with any joker based sequel is that whoever they cast is going to be following in Jack's shadow AND they're going to have a few problems with brand confusion. Dorks like myself can tell that the Burton Batman is from a different source material than Batman begins but I doubt the average moron is going to make the distinction at first. Then again, that movie was released in like 1989...

I'd rather them do someone like Clayface than the joker anyway.

An interesting thing I read on IMDB the other day was that the fans want Mark Hamill (aka Luke Skywalker) to play the Joker is the sequel (probably based on the fact that he has played the animated joker, very well, for the last 12-13 years or so).

The only obvious CGI part, that I noticed, was the "Monster Batman" that Scarecrow sees after being sprayed with his own gas.

It would be great the use villains that haven't been used in the previous series, but considering that Batman's rouge gallary doesn't have too many, well-known, villains it may be a bit of a gamble not to.

Personally my favourite Batman villains are (in kind-of order): The Joker, Scarecrow, The Riddler, and The Penguin

I wouldn't mind seeing another Joker - and I wonder who they would cast (isn't Mark Hamill too old? I mean, he is the perfect actor for the voice, but otherwise... 0.o). personally, Nicholsen wasn't my favorite - he wasn't loud or eccentric enough to be the Joker, although he did a fairly good job of it.

This movie was way more effective using lesser known villains like Ra's al goul and Scarecrown than it could have been with any other villain combo. I think there's way more potential with another Ra's al Goul appearance than with Joker. If they're going to do another villain, I'd rather see Clayface get the screen treatment over anyone else.

Mark Hamill is ancient and physically looks horrid. No. God no. I keep hearing Larry the robot from Time Squad.

I dunno... i've always considered Clayface to be the lamest Batman villain...

Well, that's not true. The Riddler. I always thought he was useless because The Joker could easily perform his job too.
