What the hell's this movie supposed to be about anyway, aside from a couple kids running around in some really crappy costumes?

I wasn't overly fond of the first Spy Kids, and I never bothered to see the other two.

From what I know, it's about this kid who writes stories about superheroes in crappy costumes, and suddenly they come to life and take him to some crappy world to fight a TV screen.
But, yeah, it's pretty much some kids running around in crappy costumes.

I saw that movie. This kid has a dream journal and he dreams sharkboy and lavagirl take him to planet drool(a place were kids have fun) which becomes overrun with (wait for it) "THE DARKNESS"!!!! So the rides get out of control, the (now) evil Mr.Electric who is the power supply (and also his teacher in the real world).
Sinse the rides never stop kids can't rest, kids can't rest,kids cant sleep, kids cant dream, Mr.Electric and the supreme one Minus(Lynus the bully who stole maxx's D journal) cant get hurt. But maxx finds out hes the daydreamer. And they do sing. Sharkboy

sings a lulaby to maxx which leads up to a hip-hop dance number. So they go make friends with Minus and defeat Mr.E and every body in the real world sees that maxx's jornal came to life... So they dream, thay sing, they talk about unicorns, they dream, Sharkboy and Lavagirl kiss, and they all dream some more. Crap like that.
