The movie Cry_Wolf (opening this weekend) had an interesting premise (a slasher movie twist on the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" fable), but that's ruined by having the movie PG-13. According the production photos, they are getting away with the PG-13 rating by having all the kills off camera (i.e. You see the attacks -- and maybe some blood -- but you never see the victims getting stabbed and whatnot)

Well, Yahoo's recommendation system said I probably wouldn't like the movie anyway, so I shouldn't really worry.

Edit: To clarify, I believe that some PG-13 horror films work (The Ring, The Grudge, and The Sixth Sense comes to mind). However, the slasher sub-genre just doesn't work without the onscreen violence.

Yeah, a slasher film with no slashing is inherently flawed.

What really bothers me is when intense horror films like Saw and Event Horizon have to lose the best footage just to get an R rating.
