What's your favourite film? What's your least favourite cliche? Etc, etc. Since, I'm at the University right now (and have to leave for class in a few minutes), I don't have time to really get you guys going, but a think I could say is that yesterday I bought the original "Halloween" for $9.99 (CND - it's a little less in US dollars). This has been on my "too see" list for a while now and I plan on watching it tommorow (tonight I will be watching "Batman Begins," which I also bought). OK, get posting. For the longest time, I was just intrigued by horror films. Out of all "Genre Films" (that is, films that are more for entertainment than award aspirations), horror is the most frowned upon by the mainstream. However, horror is second only to Sci-Fi in loyal fanbases. Basically I liked horror films up to the point of actually seeing them. To be specific, I have never been a fan of gore and, as such, I have avoided many a horror film. Mostly, in the past, if I saw a horror film, it most likely was a haunted house/ghost film (which is still my favourite sub-genre of horror). Then, about 3 years ago, my family got a DVD player and (along with others movies I remotely liked) I actually started buying horror films. It ranged from films I saw in the past and liked (Sleepy Hollow, Scream) to films I never saw before buying (House on Haunted Hill, Halloween). I have a nice collection of horror movies now. I still, for the most part, avoid the gorefests, but I have to say that my enjoyment for horror films has certainly grown. |

It's called the Horror Film Compendium. It's run by two very hardcore horror fans. Not only does this site feature reviews for hundreds of horror movies, but the site also lists the horror cliches the movies use. This site is definitely worth a look, especially if you want to know what to watch on halloween. http://www.xmission.com/~tyranist/horror/index.html |
