I'm really sick of hearing all that, so I thought I would say it up front. Generally, if you hate Shyamalan and everything he stands for, DON'T even bother replying. What this topic IS about is to tell everyone that M Night Shamalan's next movie (I believe this is his 7th -- he had two movies before Sixth Sense) has been announced. The movie will be called "Lady in the Water" and it has the following plot outline: This is the story of a superintendent of an apartment complex in Philadelphia who discovers a sea nymph living in the building's swimming pool. For those of you who don't know, "Sea Nymph" is a fancy name for Mermaid. It seems to be a straightforward plot (but, as the case usually is with this director, there is probably more than meets the eye). The film is currently set to be released on July 21st, 2006 on it will be distributed by Warner Bros this time (perhaps Shyamalan didn't like how The Village was marketed by Touchtone) |

Also, about this movie being different about his usual style, only The Sixth Sense and Signs can be called true thrillers. Unbreakable and The Village were more dramas than anything else. | |

(Especially given that it's coming out in July. My pals at summer camp always manage to con me into seeing the most horrific crap imaginable.) Mermaids, eh? Interesting choice. I wonder if Shyamalan will opt for a different tone to coincide with the more fairy tale-like subject matter. |

Paul Giamatti will be playing the main character, while Bryce Dallas Howard makes her second appearance in an M Night Shyamalan movie (possibly as the Sea Nymph???). Did you notice, with the exception of Signs, every M Night Shyamalan film (from Sixth Sense up) featured an actor from the previous film reappearing. Sixth Sense -> Unbreakable (Bruce Willis) -> Signs (none) -> The Village (Joaquin Phoenix) -> Lady In the Water (Bryce Dallas Howard) |

Night Shyamalan, before Harry Potter today. It's an interesting trailer. The film is being advertised as a fairytale, but the music has a slightly sinister tone to it. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. |

Based on the synopsis this film can be described as a "fairytale in the modern world". It will be interesting to see how it turns out. |
