The film was delayed for other half a year. The critics think Peter Sellers is rolling in his grave. I........laughed.......a lot. And that's all that counts. |

That wasn't funny at all. I don't think I'm going to see this, definitely not in the cinema. |

Basically all the REALLY funny stuff involved physical comedy, in contrast to that scene which involved a bad French accent. EDIT: Though in reference to that "not seeing this film in a cinema" comment, this definitely is a film I see being played all the time on TBS in 2 years. I don't like Steve Martin and I have no idea why anyone thinks Beyonce should act. Something tells me I'm not able to get TBS in Europe. |

Having been brought up with the original movies, and knowing a bit about Steve Martin's comedy style, I'm leery of this remake. Leslie Nielsen, I would be much more reassured by. All the same, I probably won't see it anyways, just because I don't go to movies often at all. |

Good thing it wasn't. It was all right. Definitely won't do the original justice, but a decent movie nontheless. Feels a lot like "Johnny English." |

Aside from the whole "LAND BEFORE TIME GOD KNOWS WHAT NUMBER" music video before the trailers and the extended trailer for the Shaggy Dog (yet another pointless remake), I went into the movie in a good mood. I came out in more of a neutral mood. They had funny parts, but the movie seemed to drag, and it really doesn't even compare to the original with Peter Sellars. You're better off renting the original or buying it on DVD (since I'm sure its in the bargain bin now) than watching this. Whoever hires Beyonce for movies should be brought out back and worked over with a tire iron. And her knees should be Kerrigan'd. The whole "Lets put her song in the movie" thing annoyed me. It really falls into my whole "if its a remake, don't bother and rent the original" theory. While this isn't always foolproof (as the Producers remake was just as good), it generally works. If I want to see Steve Martin in a comedy, I'll pop in my copy of The Jerk because, ya know, its actually funny the whole way through. |

I don't know if it's because the movie was made about 22 years before my time, but I only really found this movie so-so (actually I think it IS the generation gap, since my aunt was laughing more than I was). EDIT: Though I do agree that Peter Sellars was good. |

It was funny. It was goofy. Don't go in expecting it to be like the old movies, just go to watch it for what it is: a dumb movie. And the scene in which Steve Martin is trying to say "I would like to buy a hamburger" is actually one of the best scenes in the movie, you just have to watch the entire thing. Also understand that Steve Martin's french accent is bad on purpose. I definitely got my money's worth. Then again, I only paid three bucks. |
