Thumbs down Date Movie (or "Why I should remember to follow my instincts")

The reason I usually don't post negative things about the movies I see is that I am pretty good at telling whether or not I will like a movie before seeing it (and hence avoid the ones that I'll hate).

However that didn't happen today. I decided to give a movie I had bad feelings about a chance and I ended up leaving disapointed.

Date Movie had a unfunny trailer and the clips I saw on Yahoo movies weren't too appealing either.

But, it was my final day of reading week (the Canadian version of what American's call Spring Break -- except not in Spring) and I had a movie pass lying around, so I decided to go to my favourite movie theatre in downtown Toronto (The Paramount) and see the film.

The first half was BAD. There were gags that just didn't work and some of them (like a tasteless liposuction bit and a parody of the "cat on the toilet" gag from Meet the Parents just made me want to vomit).

The movie got a bit funnier in the second half, but it wasn't enough to get rid of the bad taste in my mouth.

So, in summary, if you have bad feelings about a movie DON'T SEE IT!!!

On a side note, at least I got my money's worth (as you can see below):

I work at a movie theatre, so I also saw it for free... it was trash.

This Scary Movie Spin-Off (Is it, BTW?) is like a "Silent but Deadly" fart. You heard nothing about it before previews and stuff, and it REALLY stinks.

This isn't a spin-off per say.

After Scary Movie became a success, the screenwriters, whose last name weren't Wayans, went off to make other genre parodies.

Buddy Johnson and Phil Beauman went to co-write "Not Another Teen Movie," while Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer wrote and directed this movie.

I think this is the best quote in this thread. And I'm not saying this because it's me who made that quote.
