Just because something is tangible doesn't mean it's more real. Gollum would never have worked with a guy in costume/make up. Actually, the entire LotR trilogy is a good example of something that could never have worked without CGI. |

However, there are times when a tangible object is more appropriate. I know the animatronic dinosaurs in Jurassic Park were a lot better-looking than anything in the film Dinosaur. IV on the DVD and he looks much better than in the initial SE release. also they replaced the Ghost of Anikan at the end of Jedi with his currant actor. |
