The CGI version of Jabba in Episode I looked even better than puppet. I'm sorry, but it's ture. BTW, the one up there was from Ep. VI. THIS is from Ep I.

I disagree. You can blatantly tell that Jabba's CG. If you can't tell, then the animators have done their job.

The fact that every single movie out there is now completely CGI bothers me the most. Sure, it was fine in '98, but it's gotten way outta hand.

CGI just makes everything seem so generic..

Although I don't agree with all of Lucas's creative decisions I think he has a point when he said something along the lines of: 'why is a puppet more real than a computer graphic?'

Just because something is tangible doesn't mean it's more real. Gollum would never have worked with a guy in costume/make up. Actually, the entire LotR trilogy is a good example of something that could never have worked without CGI.

^Right, and Gollum was a proper usage. However, there are times when a tangible object is more appropriate. I know the animatronic dinosaurs in Jurassic Park were a lot better-looking than anything in the film Dinosaur.

^agreed, if the dinos in jurassic park had been cgi at that time it would not have been as believable, like with the ones from dinosaur. btw they went back and redid Jaba's scene with han from ep. IV on the DVD and he looks much better than in the initial SE release. also they replaced the Ghost of Anikan at the end of Jedi with his currant actor.
