Actually, I no longer get reduced-price matinees. The price is now basically a median between the old matinee price and the old night show price.

I'm pretty sure the only thing worse than paying people to hurt you is shopping around for a better price.

New trailer anyone?

TRANSFORMERS on Yahoo! Movies

Personally, I think this is a good teaser, because it only showns breif glimpses of the Transformers (the only ones I recognized were Optimus Prime and Bumblebee)

I'm sorry, this is going to be a horrifically bad movie. Michael Bay sucks at life, and is possibly one of the worst directors in modern Hollywood. On top of the blatant fact that they borked the designs from day one, this dipstick is making a movie that has been described about that kid from Even Stevens getting a new car and growing up.

I saw the trailer on the Interweb and in the theatre, and I wasn't impressed either time. Not worth 9 bucks or the matinee of 5 bucks. Hell, this isn't worth theatre hopping.

Yeah, I realize the Transformer license has been butchered with those horrifically bad Japanese import shows where they make it pokemon in space with robots, but they were trying to channel the actual good shows (ie: original). Yeah, the originals were essentially toy commercials, but they were better than pretty much any modern cartoon or anime right now because it at least wasn't mindnumbingly retarded. I understand you need to update what they turn into, and I can sort of understand that they want to make them not have disappearing pieces (trailers from trucks, etc). Yet, the designs they churned out look like H.R. Geiger had a nightmare involving insects having sex with alien cars and then getting an abortion, with the final transformer designs being the biowaste from said abortion.

People complain about some douchebag like Uwe Boll. No, Boll is insignificant and nobody cares about him. Michael Bay is a bigger scourge on cinema than Boll, and the simple fact that he is still allowed to make movies is proof that the concept of a just and merciful God if flawed.

Yeah that's exactly the problem with the designs. Look at him. Not only does he have an absolutely ridiculous flame paint job, he looks like he's made from an Erector set and could be destroyed by a strong wind.

Agree with Wyborn.

Going further, while Optimus is the class of the designs (sadly), other ones look horrific. Prime example: Megatron.

OK, I just read Good news and Bad news and voice casting on AICN

Bad News -- Frank Welker will NOT be voicing Megatron.

Good News -- They picked Hugo Weaving (i.e. Agent Smith in The Matrix, V in V for Vendetta) to do the voice, which is a nice enough consolation.

I still think Michael Bay's Giant Robot Movie will suck. This is to Transformers as I, Robot with Will Smith was to Asimov. Ya know, not at all.

Images of most of the major Transformers were posted on Michael Bay's Blog

Here are my thoughts on how each looks (with a link to the image)

Optimus Prime - Design is probable the closest of the bunch to the cartoon.

Bumblebee - Second closest

Ironhide - Looks closer to a black Optimus, than how he looked in the cartoon

Jazz - Doesn't look too different

Megatron - They DEFININTLY took liberties with him.

Starscream - He could've looked worse

Blackout - Doesn't look bad (don't know how close he is to the cartoon though).

Frenzy - WTF.

You're out of your mind.

Prime probably looks the best, and it isn't that great (refer to CGI lips on the leaked trailer).

Distant second: Jazz.

Very distand third: Blackout.

Bumblebee looks pretty bad imo, and if they follow through with that "speaks through songs on the radio" approach, its incredibly stupid.

Starscream is horrific. He looks like a walking triangle. Out of the original designs, the jets actually seemed to work with 1:1 transformations the best. This doesn't work on any level.

Megatron is pretty much what I'd visualize colon cancer to look like if it took robot form. Nice Venom fangs....er...no. Horrific design by an obvious graphic design hack.

Ironhide looks atrocious. Like some trashcans on top of a metal anamorphic rhino-man.

Frenzy doesn't look like his legs could support his disproportionate head. No way gravity would allow that thing to walk upright.

Overall, the designs are contrived garbage. They look like the byproducts of an Alien-on-Bionicle rape. In actuality, I've seen better scrapyard statues in tourist traps. Yeah, he's going for the 1:1 look. Fine. Why do most of htem look like exoskeletons without any hint of vehicle paneling. That's the main problem: they don't look like anything remotely recognizable from any design point in any transformer franchise. I'm not saying you need the same designs from the 1980s show, but you do need something that actually looks like a walking transformable vehicle, not a twisted assortment of wires and scrap with some trashcans and wheels attached.

But they haven't had 1:1 transformations, have they? Oh wait:

And I fully expect Wyborn's opinion to be harsher than mine.

I only said bumblebee is second closest because he was the only other design that had colours (instead of grey)

Well, that's the other strange thing about these CG captures. They should be deep enough into post production to show off fully colored models for most of them. You can get a glimpse of a fleshed out starscream and blackout in a few of the teasers. From what I've seen, Megatron pretty much looks like that, except a bit more neon blue and metallic instead of grey.

Jesus. That Starscream is goddamn painful to look at. He looks like Darth Vader f*cked a Covenant Elite. And I don't see what the hell Megatron is supposed to be able to disguise himself as, unless he transforms into a big pile of crap.

So Megatron is Super Shredder now? Or did he just fall in a trash compactor?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Boo: He does transform into a big pile of crap, only Michael Bay calls it some kind of Cybertronian death plane or something.

And yeah. These designs make me want to set myself on fire. Jazz offends me the least - Optimus might offend me the least except that he looks like an erector set built by a thirteen-year-old Hot Wheels collector back in 1986.

Of course the designs aren't the worst part. The script for this movie is atrocious beyond words.

Well, the film is now open.

I probably won't see it until the weekend though.
