June 2006 Film Discussion

I plan to make this a monthly topic.

I will list the 10 biggest releases for June and you check off which one(s) you will like to see the most.

Then you can reply and dicuss which of these film will be hits (and which will probably be misses)

Most Want to See: Nacho Libre, Superman Returns.
Runners-up: The Breakup, Cars, Click.

The Garfield flick will make some cash, but not enough to warrant another sequel, thank goodness. Same goes for 3 Fast 3 Furious.
Remaking The Omen was a bad idea; horror geeks and extremely optimistic people will go, and that's all. Meanwhile, even making The Devil Wears Prada was a bad idea.

Cars will be good, but not nearly as good as we're used to from Pixar, and that drop will hurt it. Safe assumption that Superman will take the biggest bank for the month.

Haven't heard a scrap about The Lake House.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Actually, from that I've read, there will probably be a 4th Fast and Furious movie. This is because........
Spoiler Below

.....Vin Deisel's character from the first film apparently shows up right at the end.

^Great. We could use more shallow films about pimped-out cars and loose women.

I'm looking forward to Superman Returns, though I wouldn't be completely surprised if it broke my little heart into many separate-but-equal pieces. (Lois Lane as a single mother? Lame.)

Cars and Nacho Libre are looking pretty good, too.

They all sound pretty crappy to me. Maybe Superman? Nacho Libre looks like it might be pretty funny, but the previews are rather lame.

I don't know if he's the father, but Lois Lane DOES have a love interest in the the movie played by James Marsden (i.e. Cyclops from X-Men -- which is probably one of the reasons he wasn't in X3 much)

I think I'm only going to watch Cars in the cinema, and I'm not even sure of that. From what I've seen so far it's a step down from Finding Nemo and The Incredibles as CH pointed out.

I'm not a big fan of Superman, and haven't even seen an entire Superman movie. I'll probably end up renting it.

From the others I think I will rent Click (saw the trailer and it looked entertaining enough). I don't care about Garfield, Omen or Fast and the Furious and I must admit I haven't heard of the others (yet).

EDIT: after a quick IMDb visit, I saw that the break-up is the Vaughn-Anniston vehicle. Not something I'm interested in.

^ Yep. Actually I just watched the trailer.

It looks to be cute family entertainment that the kids will enjoy (actually it's plot -- a case of mistaken identity -- seems to be a step up from the first film)

Its plot is The Prince & The Pauper. Again.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
