Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they already have some of the documentaries they show in Imax in full 3D already? Sure, its a bit different watching fish swim through a reef in 3D than watchign Superman spin around in the air and catch an airplane, but I think that some form of a 3D effect is the next logical step in cinematic production, especially with people like George Lucas/ILM, Speilburg, and others of their ilk looking into it as the wave of the future.

I'm bumping this topic, because I just saw it tonight.

I was not impressed at all. Not because I thought the movie itself was bad (it was OK), but just because I don't like the premise of Superman. I find it really hard to believe that no one makes the connection between Kent and Superman, not only because, with the exceptance of glasses, clothes and a slightly different haircut, they are identical, but also because of the simultaneous dissapearance and reappearance.

I also don't like the idea that he can do everything and cannot get hurt by anything except Kryptonite. I also think Lex Luthor isn't a very interesting bad guy. Space was great (as always), but the character itself was just making his plans for most of the movie, then there's 5 mintues of interaction (= Luthor kicking Superman's ass) and then Superman goes underwater and all Luthor's work was for nothing.

This was the first Superman movie I saw, and most likely the last. Give me Spiderman or Batman over this guy any day.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also think it's ridiculous that Superman supposedly can hear calls for help for anywhere and get there in time to save them. Even if you ignore the fact that there are far too many situations for him to handle at one time, he would certainly be saving people 24/7. There's no time for him to be Clark Kent.

Well, I believe the goal of this movie was to reintroduce Superman to movie viewers.

The next film should have a more powerful villain than Lex Luther (I'm hoping for Brainiac - i.e. Superman's OTHER arch-villain)

Well, even with another villain, I think there's a slim chance that I will watch another Superman movie.

I also don't see why Bryan Singer opted to do this one instead of X-men 3. I think the X-men are far more interesting, and he already proved he was capable of making good movies with that source material. Even without Singer I still enjoyed X-men 3 better than Superman Returns.

I think a DVD release is a good reason to bump a movie topic.

III and IV are some of the worst movies I've ever had the displeasure to watch. IV is on par with Rocky IV in terms of pure "X SAVED THE WORLD FROM THE COLD WAR" cheesyness.

I and II are good, and Superman Returns does the world a favor and pretends the cinematic abortions of III and IV never happened, which is fine by me.
