The official Daily Show/Colbert Report appreciation thread

Every Monday-Thursday, Comedy Central serves up this great, edutaining one-two punch of excellent satire, poking fun at both the political news of today and the media that normally covers these events. Although it is technically a "fake" news show, research has shown that Daily Show Viewers know more about election issues than people who read newspapers or watch the reglar news (of course, if they weren't already informed of the news, most Daily Show viewers wouldn't understand some of the humor on the show).

And now, your moment of zen:

I like how each show is a basically, from the "view" of each err....well

In other words, the Daily Show takes a "liberal" approach (while still mocking everyone), and the Colbert Report takes a "conservative" approach (while again, still mocking everyone).

The Colbert Report is making fun of right wing news, Bill O'Rielly in particular. Both shows are quite left-leaning, but they can still appeal to anyone on the political spectrum.

Daily Show's the best show on TV. (Except possibly Venture Bros.) It's the only TV I watch regularly (other than VB), and would be the only TV I ever watched if I didn't view random other crap when I hang out with my friends.

I watched the Colbert Report the first two weeks and sorta got bored. Plus, I could use that half-hour of sleep. It's a funny show, but I'm not going to watch it regularly.

It took me a while to get into the Colbert Report but after a while I started to like it more than the Daily Show. I'd say it's about even now, but I barely get the chance to watch either since I have no TV.

Colbert Report is more awesome. They have more in-jokes that they milk for all they're worth.

Fun fact: A poll from a couple years ago showed The Daily Show to be the most trusted news program in America.
Second was ABC News, third was Weekend Update.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
