October 2006 Film Discussion

On paper October is the perfect month to release horror films (especially since this year's has a Friday the 13th). However, there tends to be overcrowding and the scary flicks get moved elsewhere.

However, there are at least three big fright flicks this month, plus a few other interesting films.

So, let's get talking shall we?

(note about poll: Babel is on this list since it opens Oct 26 in limited release, though it proably wouldn't go wide until November or December)

EDIT:

Here are my notes on my choices. "The Grudge 2" is my horror film of choice this month. Hopefully it won't be suffering the from sequelitis of "The Ring 2".

In the non-horror department would like to see "The Departed" and "Man of the Year". Not sure if I will see the latter in the theatre though.

Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige" has been a film I have been anticipating for a while. I have been a fan of Nolan since "Memento" and it will be interested to see this tale about two feuding magicians.

Like I mentioned in my note, I probably won't see "Babel" until after it goes wide (unless I'm willing to take the trip to the one theatre downtown it would probably be playing at)

If I Can Get to a Theater I'll See: Man of the Year
If I Can Go Multiple Times I'll Consider Seeing: Employee of the Month

We've got Robin Williams in an intelligent looking comedy; I'm excited.
Employee of the Month looked enjoyable until I heard Jessica Simpson was in it.
Infamous just sounds redundant.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Don't blame me, blame the fact that I can only fit 10 movies on the poll

I'm not much of a horror movie guy.

And a hell no to the Marine. Because I hate Cena.
