Trailer Park Boys: The Movie

Instead of the usually Hollywood fare, I decided to check out this homegrown film based on the popular TV show.

I thought it was entertaining enough. I'm sure people, who are hardcore fans of the show (I've haven't yet watched an entire episode) will probably think it's awesome. I don't think it's awesome, but I also don't think the $12 I spent was wasted.

However, my experience was almost disturbed by, of all things, the smell of maharajah in the theatre. My best guess is that people in the back thought that no one would notice if they lit up. But, in a theatre with stadium seating, you can't fool gravity. I promptly complained to an usher (good thing I noticed the smell during the trailers) and the smell eventually stopped sometime after a theatre manager entered the theatre.

That not withstanding, it was a good time at the movies today.

(note: I don't know if or when this movie will be released in the U.S. though I did read that it's being screened at Sundance next year)

^ In the ticket collecting and theatre-cleaning sense.

I think it will be worth noting that this film opened #1 in Canada (#11 in North America) with $1.3 million
