| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | Fist of the Red Dragon aka Heroes Among Heroes See above post. Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo aka The Good, The Bad and the Ugly I've been wanting to see this one for a minute now. A bit long, but I was tuned in the whole time. Clint Eastwood is the badass to end all badasses. I think I might just ever so slightly prefer A Fistful of Dollars, but that movie has the advantage of having a Kurosawa storyline. Speaking of Kurosawa and movies being a bit long, next up for me is Seven Samurai. Ooh, I can't hardly wait. |

| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | Seven Samurai I was expecting to be slightly disappointed with this film, seeing how people often refer to it as one of the greatest movies ever made. Usually I'm correct. However, I must say, this movie deserves its reputation to the fullest. The three-and-a-half hours flew by like minutes! Everything was excellent: the pacing, the acting, the story, the action, the camera angles, the score, and the characters. To all of you who have not seen this film (which I'm assuming is the overwhelming majority of you): Please do. This belongs on every top ten list. If you don't, I'll send Toshiro Mifune after you!! |

I watched 'The Lion in Winter' again today. Fantastic movie--it's in my top ten. __________________ Boo--the only dude bad enough to rescue the president |

| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | ^ So far only Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, and Rashomon, but the Library has many more. Anyways... Raging Bull Scorsese + DeNiro + Pesci = Classic combination. You can't go wrong with that (although it seems as if lately Leonardo DiCaprio has been Scorsese's new DeNiro, though, no?). DeNiro's performance in this movie is well deserved of its reputation. As far as movies about boxers go, I think I may actually prefer this movie to Rocky, if not simply for the fact that the pacing is much better. A Touch of Zen My first King Hu flick (Come Drink With Me is in the mail but it's a VCD ). Recently, this film has become known as one of the major influences for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and though I can see the similarities, it's nowhere near as close as some CTHD naysayers claim. This is an excellent movie, but it has one major problem: it gets waaaay too slow in parts, expecially in the first half. And when a movie is too slow, it's easy to tune out. However, once this movie got going, it was very enjoyable. Excellent cinematography.Swordsman II I always had trouble with this movie (even moreso than any other Tsui Hark film). This was my third time watching this movie (and only time making it all the way from start to finish in one sitting), and for the first time I actually somewhat enjoyed it. I can understand why it's considered a classic in the Wuxia Pian genre, but as far as being the best Wuxia of all time as some have claimed it to be? I'll have to vote no on that one. Television Daria I've almost seen the whole series now. That makes me kind of ssad in a way, knowing that my journey through cynicism will soon be complete. |

Probably this Sunday. Since my last post I've watched Casablanca, the Untouchables and All the President's Men. |

The former is the much-ballyhooed inspiration for the Star Wars movies (watch it, and you'll see the similarities); the latter is Kurosawa's reimaging of Macbeth in the setting of feudal Japan. Both are magnificent. __________________ Boo--the only dude bad enough to rescue the president |

That movie wasn't worth $10.00, it was more of a...$4.50 afternoon show. __________________ Season 1- Coming to a Youtube near you....whenever |

| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | Come Drink With Me Wow! Just wow! This just might be my new favorite wuxia. Even though the action itself wasn't the most well choreographed, the buildup to the action was by far the best of any movie I've ever seen, especially in the restaurant early on. I would've liked to have seen more of Cheng Pei Pei in the final act of the film, especially since her performance throughout was excellent (not to mention she was quite good looking when she was younger). Still, I give this movie an A+. Lady Snowblood You all already know how I feel about this film. I figured I'd keep the theme of tough girl movies going. TV: Afro Samurai Finished the entire miniseries. I've seen better Samurai stories in my life. The only thing that really made this one stand out was RZA's music. Daria I have now seen every episode of this show within the past three weeks. Kind of makes me sad that I have no more to look forward to, minus "Is it College Yet?" |

| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | Movies: Citizen Kane Review coming after we finish watching it... on Monday... For a Few Dollars More Not necessarily the best of Leone's Dollars trilogy, but in my opinion, develops Clint Eastwood's "the man with no name" the most. Can't really say much about this movie that I didn't say about The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. As usual, Ennio Morricone's score is indelible. |
