The Aqua Teen movie

Just saw it.

Honestly, this is one of those "Had its moments" movies. I honestly thought they tried to milk out the popularity of older characters, which got boring after awhile, although there were some new ones. There were some very funny parts, but this was in no way a laugh out loud movie.

Most of the other ATHF diehards loved it, but the reviewers hated it. I think I'm somewhere in the middle.

The main problem with the movie is there was too much action going on away from the Aqua Teens' house. The thing that makes the show so great is that it looks like a superhero show at first but then we discover it's really about a group of anthropomorphic fast food products who live in a house which would never survive a government inspection and their day to day lives, and Shake's antics. The movie lacked a lot of that (mind there were a few parts which were funny, and all involved Shake to some degree). There was only ONE instance where Shake threw something and it exploded, and not a single instance of Shake abusing his TV to the point where he breaks it. THAT's what makes ATHF so great. That and Meatwad's pathetic fantasies. The movie lacked that and focused too much on Dr. Weird, whose purpose is a five to ten second bit about how he concocts something crazy. Also, the Mooninites didn't mention their moon obsession at all.

I laughed through most of it except for the dead air parts where they tried to tie up a plot.

Overall, not enough Carl. Good amount of tossouts to the fans. Extra clip at the end was funny.

B-.

Try to catch it when you're not dealing with a bunch of stupid kids that giggle like 6 year old girls when they say **** or ****.

Woah, woah, woah, it's out already? Holy crap, I didn't even know that!

I love it when Shake throws something and it blows up, it only happens once? That harms it, like you said.

But why is rated R? Uncensored, or something?

I don't plan on seeing this I couldn't even if I wanted to (i.e. it's, for some reason, not getting a Canadian release)

The only released it in 800 or so movie theaters in the U.S. There's people I know who want to see it who live in Happy Valley but can't. -CSM

Likely scaled back after the negative publicity due to the City of Boston's complete ineptitude to tell the difference between a marketing sign and a bomb.

The simple fact that the show is not only niche' enough to keep it out of wide release, but also vulgar enough to keep it out of a bunch of theatres, it's about right that its on sub 1000 screens.

Canada probably isn't getting it because they don't get Cartoon Network. Or first run shows that matter (Yes Wyborn, the Shield season that you're missing).

^You really think so many people really agree with the mayor of Boston? About ten percent of Bostonians think he's right about this. -CSM

Not necissarily that, but more that it's enough for the head ups in Time Warner to not fund it.

Ah hem....

(and about that shows comment. If we truly don't get first run shows, why am I able to watch shows like Lost and The Office everyweek? And why is the final episodes of The Sopranos airing on TMN?)

^^True, true. These executive types are so fearful because these people, despite being a tiny minority, have so much power and influence and use fear tactics. -CSM

Unlocked because...
A) This is an active, current, major motion picture.
B) There's no reason to start a new thread for it.
C) I felt like it.

This thread is about the ATHF movie. Resume.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Is it worth seeing though? The closest theatre around here that will get it is an hour drive.

I thought it was pretty good. I mean, it was no 'Lion in Winter', but I still enjoyed it. Call it a B, or three stars, or 1.75 thumbs up.
