it was dumb and barely had a plot, but it was funny as hell.

It was by David Zucker, the same guy who made Airplane! and Rat Race. He did a good job.

Bonus points to those of us who saw the Airplane! reference in the movie.

The suprisingly unfunny Scary Movie 2 scared me off the path of seeing Scary Movie 3. Besides, the PG-13 rating turned me off (these movies aren't supposed to be clean!).
