24 hours later and I still don't know what to think about it. I sort of felt cheated, I left the theater with too many questions.

Arrow That's confusing.

Did you just watch 300 4.6933333333333333333333333333333 times?

It's Stephen King. You're supposed to be confused.

^You're a jack-ass.

So is it really as different from the story as it appears to be? Because the only link apparent in the trailers is the fact that it takes place in a hotel.

I don't know how close to the story it is (I know for sure the ending is slightly more happy). However, I believe that it was a very effective ghost story. It does get a little weird late on in the film, but overall I thought is was very good.

Ghost story, eh?

Yeah, my suspicions are confirmed, then. I'll probably skip it.

Wait!

Ghost story was MY loose definition.

Spoiler Below

There are of course no actual ghosts in the movie (Samuel L. Jackson even says so) and the room apparently just generates hallucinations based on Cusacks's character's thoughts.

In fact most of the movie is John Cusack recording his thoughts of the things happening into his tape recorder.

Give it a chance.

Read the story, then tell me if I should give it a chance.

The room in the movie doesn't sound as bad. Someting about that premise just feels tame.

When have you ever not been confused by the ending of one of his books? I like his works, don't get me wrong. They're just very confusing.

What?

What's there to be confused about in The Stand? Or IT? Or Pet Sematary? Or any of the Dark Tower books? Salem's Lot? Jerusalem's Lot? Any of the Different Seasons? Everything's Eventual? The Tommyknockers? Carrie? Cujo? The Talisman? Black House? The Shining? Dead Zone? The Eyes of the Dragon? The Dark Half? Insomnia? Rose Madder?

What I have trouble understanding is how you could be confused by them.

There's so much ambiguity, though.

I realize I am, yet again, fighting a losing battle, so I'm going to stop posting in this topic.

What's ambiguous about any of them?
