Drag Me to Hell

I saw the film yesterday and if I can say one thing, it's a testament to how much you can get away with a PG-13 rating these days.

Let me list some of the ways:
Spoiler Below

  • Evil gypsy woman gets staples to the face and a ruler shoved down her throat
  • Blood shoots out of Alison Lohman's nose all over her boss
  • Anvil falls on evil gypsy woman's head causing eyes to shoot out
  • Possessed cake, grows an eye, eats a fork, and bleeds over the table
  • Fans of cute kittens will be calling PETA after the film

I would say that you would find the film enjoyable if you liked the campy horror of the Evil Dead films. It was a fun film.

I'm not much of a horror person, outside of a precious few that have really impressed me (The Exorcist, The Shining, A Tale of Two Sisters, Audition). However, the good reviews this is receiving have piqued my interest.

It's also nice to finally see that there's a new American horror film that isn't a watered-down remake of a superior original.
