The new "NIMH" likely will combine live action and animation in the manner of "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and other kiddie hybrids.

Wow the creativity of hollywood is staggering.

20 bucks says that we're only a year and a half away from a "Land Before Time" remake.

You already pissed all over the movie when you made that sequel, Evil Force that Makes Movies. Why do you have to do it again...?

Though, maybe it's a bit soon to be judging the film. I mean, even if it's done all cgi-Alviny, it could still be good.

^^ The Rats of NIMH is a novel, which Don Bluth did a movie based off of. This new movie would be another adaptation of the book, not one of Don Bluth's film.

^^^ It'll be completely CG-animated, be done by the same guys who do the CG animated shows on Nickelodeon, and it'll feature a brand-new comic relief character named "Kooky the Dinosaur", voiced by Jack Black.

I...will return!

^But...aren't they all dinosaurs?

on a side-note, the movie differed from the book, what with DUELING RATS WITH SWORDS. I liked both.

I remember reading this as a very young child.
It was the book I learned the word "hypochondriac" from.

I remember watching the movie as a young'un. Back then I never realized how freaking dark this movie was.

Also, god dammit, 3D? Really?

This gives me rage of the Brooklyn variety.

I'll bet in this one Mrs. Frisby will know kung fu & it'll turn out that she got over Jonathan's death long ago & marries Justin at the end after killing Dragon by hand*. Also, it won't feature that absolutely butt-kickin' "We Walk By Faith" crescendo at the end; they'll probably use "I Believe I Can Fly" or something dumb like that.

*Though, of course, no one will actually die in this; Dragon will just fall into a lake or something & swim away forever.

And remember, "I'm-a Don Bluth, number one!"

I know that, but I wanted to make a joke about Don Bluth's career.

I wonder if they might be making a trilogy out of it, or however many books there were to be based off of it. Bluth didn't really leave that much room for any sequels even though the adaptation sort of went in a different direction.

I know it'd probably surprise those people who've never read the books when they find out Jenner isn't as evil as Bluth & Co portrayed him and now Nicodemus isn't nightmare fuel, even if he is rubber.

Spoiler Below
The scene where he died easily fueled nightmares for me. Or, alternatively, made me sad. ;_;

*isn't sure if that even deserves a spoiler tag what with the film being older than a good amount of members here*

That's assuming they'll even have the decency to leave the characters in. Stuart Little, anyone?

^^Oh, I thought he meant the character itself was nightmare fuel.

^That reminds me, they'll probably also change most of the names to make them "more ratlike" or "hip" or "giving away the plot." Jenner will become "Slayer", Mr. Ages will become "Rusty", Nicodemus will become "Nearly-Headless Nick", & Mrs. Frisby will become "LaShondra Roxy Jenkins-Frisby" voiced by Wanda Sykes.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I was thinking that about the only way to make this good with CGI imo is to make the rats/mice look very realistically like rats and mice, and give them similar-to-real mannerisms.
